Luke's Diner | Friday

Bod still hadn't decided if he was going to go to the dance tonight. One part of him wanted to attend and the other part wanted to stay in his room all night, reading in the quiet of the dorms. He figured he'd probably decide at the last minute. For now, he was busying himself with opening up the diner and greeting the staff. They were all wearing their red and pink today, completely ready for the Valentine's Day holiday.

Bod's around, willing to help should you need it!

"Bod!" Ariel came into the diner and bounced right up to the counter. "There's a dance tonight! I need fries for fuel!"

"Hullo, Ariel," he said, wandering over and smiling at her excitement. The cook moved to get started on her fries after Bod gestured to him. "Are you excited about the dance, then?"

"Always!" Ariel gushed, leaning on the counter with a happy sigh. "I love dances. You're coming, right? Not going to be a boring stick in the mud or anything?"

"I hadn't actually decided yet," he said honestly, shrugging. "I'm not great at dances and I wouldn't want to make others uncomfortable."

Ariel arched an eyebrow at Bod, the same eyebrow she had to arch at Raven yesterday. "I don't know about making anyone uncomfortable," she declared, "but I do know that it would make someone very sad if you didn't come."

"I haven't ruled it out completely," he promised, laughing at that face. "I just hadn't completely decided if I should go either. There's always the tendency for awkwardness at these now."

Ariel shrugged. Then again, this was the girl who invited the guy who broke up with her because neither of them could stop spewing the truth and decided he couldn't accept happiness and she was a mermaid, anyway, to her birthday two days after wards...

"But there's even more of a potential for awesomeness," she decided.

"You're not going to relent until I agree to go, are you?" Bod guessed, finding that endearing for some reason.

"Awww, Bod," Ariel said with a smirk. "Asking a question like that. Now I know we really have gotten to be good friends."

"Which means I'm right," he said and laughed. "What if I said I don't have a suit that's clean? Perhaps it's at the dry cleaner?"

"Then you're really bad at planning, Bod," Ariel said. "I'm sure you've got a nice sweater or something. Or you could make a statement and go with no shirt at all."

"...wouldn't that be a little chilly?" Bod asked, making a face. "And possibly get me dismissed from the dance for public nudity?"

"No, I think they couldn't bust you for nudity unless you also went without pants," Ariel pointed out, giggling. "And then I guess you'd just have to dance more to keep warm!"

"What if I just hid in my room?" Bod asked, just curious as to what she'd say since he did plan on attending now.

"Booooooo."

Ariel's jeering answer came complete with a napkin balled up and tossed at him, too.

Bod let the napkin bounce off his head and fall harmlessly to the counter. He laughed and reached behind him to get Ariel's fries for her. Those were quickly slid across to her.

"And if I promise to make at least an appearance at the dance tonight? I might stay longer, I might not, but I'll come, at least."

Ariel nodded with satisfaction. "Good," she said. "I didn't want to have to throw one of my fries at you, too. Showing up is the important part, anyway."

"I promise, I will be there," he assured her, nodding. "I've a suit at the ready, I'll put it on and I will make my way over there so I can attend the dance and talk to my friends. I won't let you down."

Ariel nodded again, picking up a fry and popping it into her mouth. "I knew you wouldn't, Bod."
