The Arms Hotel Lobby, Friday [2/11]

After checking last night's audit and then pre-processing tonight's reservations, Mary would usually browse stories on Gawker while waiting for check-in time to start. Today, though, she was finding that Gawker's newly redesigned site was giving her a headache. Everything was taking forever to load. Finally, she just gave up and went back to folding towels. One could never have enough towel swans when the school had their dance this evening.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Today's Specials
Roast Chicken with Rosemary-Garlic Paste
Caramelized-Shallot Mashed Potatoes
Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Lemon and Bacon
Tarte Tatin with Candied Bacon

When our borrowed fictional characters can't even handle it, you know that the Gawker redesign really is that bad. Nick Denton, why have you unleashed this monstrosity to an unsuspecting public?

I was willing to give it a try, but part of the fun was interacting with people in the comments and they all but killed it. :(

A large number of Gizmodo and Jezebel refugees have ended up at a place called Yippayap (http://yippayap.com/). There's no articles (yet) but they've got a large community in just a few days.

I saw that linked over on io9, which is my Gawker blog of choice (I have a star there!). I am holding out hope the comments will at least stop being broken soon at least. This never should have been rolled out while it was still so buggy.

Hee! I have a star at Jezebel, and without it, I wouldn't have been able to comment at all on Monday. It's gotten better, but I can't believe they rolled it out to all of their sites when they knew the beta test did not go well.
