Valentine's Day Dance | Town Hall | Friday Evening [8pm on] [Post II]

It was definitely hotter than it had been from the start and some of the streamers were starting to come loose, making the ‘sky’ look a little on the sorry side of things. Some of the flowers were gone—tucked into hairstyles, on the floor and being trod on, and in-roads had been made on the food.

But the dance was still on-going.

And the punch? Was definitely spiked by now.

It still felt weird to Jason to get all dressed up, but he had a responsibility to be here for the Student Council, and he knew that Bruce would know somehow if he "accidentally" missed the dance.

Plus, someone had said he might appreciate seeing Jason in a suit, and that was a really good reason to do it.

Dances still weren't really Stephanie's thing, but she'd been told to stay through the end of it and then head for the causeway to get picked up for the weekend, and so staying she was.

She was eyeing the punch bowl by now, though, and hoping it was only spiked with alcohol. Bad things could happen, okay?

. . . but her suit was back in her dorm room. She'd be in a jam if she needed it . . .

Puck had, by now, had some of the punch, and while he was no lightweight he was definitely feeling the effects. It showed in how he was smiling and his tie was loose.

(Oh, let's be honest: his tie had gotten looser first opportunity when Quinn wasn't looking.)

Bruce may have had a date, yes, but he tried to act like a social animal. And that meant wandering off and doing some mingling during the dance. And so that's what he was doing. Looking like he was having the time of his life.

Juliet wasn't going to actually drink any punch -- she wasn't in the right mood to drink -- but it felt good to have a cup in her hands as she made the rounds at the dance.

Of course Alexander was still hanging around a little longer, sipping some punch. It would be a very bad move to leave a party early, after all.

Of course Ariel needed to fuel up from all her bouncing and everything, and now she was tilting her head thoughtfully at her cup, wondering if it was just her, or if the punch just started tasting better toward the second half of the evening with the more you drank....?

So Quinn had one tiny cup of punch, because she was all hot and thirsty.

And then she had a second, because the first one was yummy.

And now she was on her third. She was almost certain it had some rum or something in it; her desire to complain about this as a StuCo representative was entirely minimal, mostly because whatever was in it, this stuff was good.

Leda recognized the smell just as she took a sip. Then she detected the telltale taste of spiked punch. Mmmmmm.

Lindsay finally decided to leave the shadowy corners to try to be more social. After two glasses of spiked punch, she was starting to feel it. She was also feeling a lot less self-conscious.

Spiked, Caroline thought the punch was massively improved and she had no difficulty at all staying rather close to the table while she people watched and tried really, really, really hard not to think about anything at all.

Jason wasn't going to take a chance on the punch yet, not until he had Nico around to take a test sip first (he was part god, he could handle the booze better, Jason was sure), so he was checking out the food first, and sampling everything within reach. Safely, of course.

Sookie had partaken of the punch. She wasn't like, falling down or anything, but she was definitely giggly and more affectionate than usual.

Which was kind of saying something.

Of course, it was rather difficult to make sure the punch didn't get to out of hand when at least one chaperon was imbibing it delicately without even a clue of knowing what might be inside.

All Jane really knew was that it seemed like such a shame to be at a dance and not dancing, thought it was always an interesting observation of human behaviour at these social functions, truly...

Alexander, being the gentleman he was...and that Elphaba was allowing him to be...lead her (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/5727104.html?thread=221466240#t221466240) out to the dance floor as a good song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPn0KFlbqX8) that he could dance his style of dancing to conveniently struck up and he turned to her to begin. "And I've just recently taken a lesson," he offered reassuringly, "so I'm not likely to tread on your toes, either."

It certainly did seem to be Alexander's night for dancing. His mother would be so proud.

Yes, Bruce was here on a date so maybe he shouldn't be dancing with other girls. On the other hand, he was Bruce Wayne, and this kind of thing was how you started reputations. Yep, even a quick dance with a friend could still be counted as using people. Well done, Bruce.

"We've never actually danced at a dance together before, have we?" Bruce asked Ariel after they made their way to the dance floor.
