The Park, In The Early Hours Of Saturday Morn'
Maybe someone had ordered the portal a little early. Maybe something had gone wrong. Maybe the universe had just planned it this way, to make sure people didn't get too comfortable with everything on the island.
Whatever the case was, there was a portal. It flickered almost gently to life, a giant thing between the trees. When it solidified, it began to pulse-- letting things through.
Or... wait. Not things.
Children.
Hope you picked a discrete place to end your Valentine's Dance night...

"Oooooops!" He landed on his back in the middle of the park, blinking up at the sky.
Mommy and Daddy were going to be really mad. And worried. And mad.
Better to have an adventure before they tracked him down!

She turned around to study it, folding her arms, then poking at it with one finger, and trying to walk back into it.
"Hmmmmmm." Nothing doing. Okay, if it wasn't aliens (maybe it was aliens?) it was time to find someone in charge.
Melinda Wayne Scully looked around, then set out with determination... unless she ran into a coffee shop first.

His mother was the spirit of electricity. His father was the god of cities. James talked to networks, and all of his aunts and uncles agreed it was a very good thing he hadn't decided to take over the world yet.
So. Where was he? Fandom. Maryland. Virginia. An island, he found, with some very tricky technology. The biggest network seemed to be a boarding school, so he checked that out, and--there, what was that? Something familiar. He pulled it up, completely oblivious to any sort of security measures that might have been in place, and found...a student file.
Jennifer Anne Sparks. Residing in room 401, and a lot of other information that he dismissed as irrelevant. The name and the photo were all he needed to see.
"Mom?"

But then, he wouldn't be his parents' son.
He came out the other end in a roll, then sat up and adjusted his glasses. He was neither in the warehouse, nor Eureka.
So many people were going to kill him, for this.

And that simple logic would be easily torn apart by his parents, so he was in no rush to find them, unlike other kids.

She supposed she had better try to find her father before he actually punched Mr. Stark in the face again. That would probably be complicated by how she...didn't seem to be in New York.

She stood there, rubbing at her eyes for a moment, before she realized she'd been here before. Daddy was here! Somewhere! And he wasn't evil! Now if she could just remember how to get to the dorm from here, and what room Daddy lived in...

"Huh?" she gazed around from the ground where they had fallen, "I wonder what this place is Max,"
no subject
Okay they were more likely to be mad at Q-Ball then them specifically but still...
"Do you think we should wait here for the portal to open again?"
no subject
She also had a strong feeling that her dad was here as well, even though she didn't know how that was possible.
no subject
He had to go find the Speaker.
He rubbed at his metallic-looking eyes, and then broke off into a run.

She stuffed the last bit of her packing back in, then slung the bag over her shoulder. First, she'd figure out the lay of the land - then she'd track upstairs to see her parents. She didn't want to simply rely on their protection, and she wanted to know what her assets were. Everything else could come after.

Not by blood or anything boring like that. But she was spoiled rotten and that meant she could be a princess if she wanted to.
Tada, she was in a park! There were lots of kids here, too, but they weren't as important as she was. She was here to see her Mommy and get some waffles. It was breakfast-time and she wanted food noooooooooooooow. Please?

He pursed his lips in thought, remembering everything his parents had taught him to do if he did get separated from them. Still, there was no reason to not have a look around on his search... Was that coffee he smelled?

She heard a little rumble ensue from her belly, and put her hands over it with a little embarrassed laugh. Or maybe breakfast, then exploring, yeah.

Hmm. Other children. And a park. Well. She supposed it was time for a little exploring.

It was just that sometimes, "mummy and papa are both working and there is nothing else to do" counted as a Very Good Reason indeed. She blinked about the park eagerly, taking just a moment to place where she was.
She hoped she wouldn't have so many brothers and sisters this year.

She wasn't supposed to go through strange portals, either, but she thought maybe Kayla had sent it and even if not she could get back home easily anyway, right? And she could totally feel Mommy and Daddy and Auntie Karla and Uncle Warren and Auntie Emma and all Mommy and Daddy's friends here, so this was obviously a safe place!

Maybe they'd opened up the Fandom High Kindergarten!

"It sure looks like it! It has the castle and everything," Kayla said, neglecting to mention it was Nommy who'd first noticed that. "It looks just like the pictures in Mommy's photo albums."

Nevermind that their fathers had gone there. Hush.

"Your face isn't allowed at the school," he retorted. "Cause it'll scare the other kids."

That was a big threat when you had wings.

All the little kids weren't helping.
Never mind that Vedder herself was ten. Some people were born old souls, and some people were kind of freaks of nature that had just popped into existence, and those two tended to go together.
Hey, maybe she could mess with some people. That might be fun.

Nommy pouted a moment, but held his hand out to his sister. And soon something new caught his attention and all sulkiness fell away. "Look, Kayla, look!" he said, pointing. "That's the castle! From all of Mommy and Daddy's pictures! Look! Look! Look!"
"I can see," Kayla said, ignoring the fact that she'd been watching the other children and hadn't seen the castle till Nommy pointed it out to her. Being a big sister had some prerogatives, after all. "But if this is Fandom, where's Mommy and Daddy?"
no subject
With all the nonchalance of an old hand at this--she'd found Mommy all by herself before, hadn't she? As a baby of five and no Jewel at all!--Jaenelle Mara began heading for the dorms. Wouldn't her parents be so happy to see her?
no subject
"A Red Jewel," he said, giving a pointed look at his sister's Green one. "She outranks you."
"Least I had my Birthright Ceremony," Kayla muttered, tugging on his hand. "Come on. Let's go see where she's from. I bet it's Dharo, cause of her hair."
no subject
She was more curious than concerned though. They were just little kids, after all. "Why're you following me?" she asked, as soon as they'd drawn close enough. "Oh! You're both Blood!"

This dimension didn't seem that bad, though. He could handle it. If anyone gave him trouble, he'd go all Venture-jitsu on their stupid butts, just like Uncle Dermott had taught him. There were a bunch of kids here, too. He didn't normally get a chance to see kids his own age, so he was looking at them curiously.

He straightened up mechanically and brushed the dirt off his clothes -- Mommy didn't like it when he got dirty.
First things first -- he needed to recon the area like a big boy. He could do it!

Thank the Darkness she could feel Maman even from the field that the...Gateway?...had tumbled her out of. Closing her eyes, Rook teleported to her Maman's side.

"This is Mommy's school!"
Now, to just find Mommy.
