Fast Eddie's; Wednesday Evening [ 02/16 ].

With everything Ariel had going on, around the island and in her head, she expected she'd probably wind up running late for her meeting/sort-of date with Chuck at the bowling alley, but she was pleasantly surprised to show up with plenty of time on her hands...

Plenty of time to admire her feet in her great bowling shoes! What wasn't to love about bowling shoes? And the person behind the counter was so nice to let her go through a few of the different color combination until she found one in her size she particularly liked. True, they wouldn't sell them to her to keep, but that was okay. Those would just have to be her pair every time she came to bowl.

Musing over the fashion of bowling shoes was more than enough to keep her occupied, too, until Chuck showed up.

[[ expecting a date for probably great SP justice, but open for all your bowling, pizza, and video game needs! ]]

Chuck... kind of missed his Converses. But that happened when he wore anything that wasn't them, traditionally ugly bowling shoes or otherwise.

He waved at Ariel, and offered a bright grin. "I'm starting to learn, you have this knack for early." It was impressive, considering how much she did in a week.

"I guess I should keep meeting you when pizza's involved. So as not to shatter this illusion you've got going," he decided.

"Unless you've got any theories about other things that lure you out early, because I might go for those!"

"I'd say I was offended, but--" Pizza. He could kind of understand that. "The fact it crossed your mind it might be the company, that'll actually do me."

He grinned, switching tracks. "So uh, how was your weekend?" Busier than his, probably.

"Uh, not this year," Chuck admitted. "But future niece, yes. Very cute, way too good running me down in Mario Kart. Apparently, that's all my own fault."

"Still weird, but possibly not as weird as yours?" he guessed. He did the 'holy crap, two kids' thing last year, and could remember the feeling.

"I had one with my best friend last year," Chuck offered. "He's... well, a guy, so--" Extra head-hurty right there. "I try not to think too hard about that." He'd repeated the 'she must be adopted' mantra a lot of times, even if the kid insisted she wasn't.

Chuck blushed and rubbed his neck awkwardly. "She... pulled some faces that really, kind of reminded me of him." But maybe she'd learned those! You could pick up facial expressions from observation, right?

In fact, after a moment he dug around in his pocket for his phone, and paged it back to the point that he could show (http://www.livejournal.com/allpics.bml?user=borntobenerd) her. Easier all around, and he didn't have to actually talk about the possibility she looked like him.

"But like you say, no, not so much with the possible." Holding to that so hard.

Chuck shrugged, tucking his phone away after a moment. "Well, they were there, my phone was there..." They'd been kind of adorable.

"If I hadn't been so freaked out, I'd probably really have enjoyed that weekend." Chuck was totally set on the idea of marriage, and babies and his very own happily ever after some day. The softy. "This one, I could definitely get into."

"Once a year, more than enough," Chuck agreed. "Tiny people, they are extremely tiring for the size." Probably because in this case there was extra-boggling that went with so many of them.

"... I don't know how that works."

"I think here is where I'm going to say, that you are not tiring like small children," he decided, with a short laugh. "Partly for my own safety, part because... actually true."

"Mostly the second one." Just in case she was wondering.

"I think I could deal with that," he decided, grinning a little wider. "For now, by spending some time trying to kick your ass at bowling."

"... Which I'm really not sure I can do." And he probably wouldn't try all that hard. Competitive wasn't really Chuck. Except possibly when it came to video games.
