The Park, Thursday After Classes

Regardless of the weather, Leda felt like taking a walk. Actually she thought the rain added a little something anyway. So, bundled up and wearing a wide brimmed hat, she went for a stroll. She was pondering taking the opportunity to splash in a few puddles like she had when she was a kid.

The weather didn't bother Anduin very much - it wasn't like he'd never seen rain before - so when the craving for tea hit, he headed out to town, taking the long way through the park to see how much wildlife had started inhabiting the pond. He was so lost in his thoughts that he almost missed Leda until he was right near her. "Hello," he said, waving at her. "Enjoying the weather?"

"Anduin!" she smiled. "Hi! Yes I am indeed. How about you?"

"This is mild compared to how the weather is at home sometimes. You look especially prepared though," he said, motioning to her hat.

"Oh? How extreme is the weather back home?" she asked. Then she touched the hat fondly. "You like it? I thought it ironic to wear to keep the rain out of my face since I bought it on a desert planet."

"It depends on the place. Some spots have snow all year round, and some barely get any rain at all," Anduin said. "I don't know if they sell rain hats in the desert-y places though."

"Well technically it's not a rain hat. It just has a wide brim that keeps the rain out of my face. And in the sunny weather it makes some nice shade." Cause, her hat was that interesting a subject. "Where was it you said you were from?" she asked.

"I'm from a place called Azeroth. Do not worry if you've never heard of it. I haven't met anyone so far who has," Anduin said. "Which is sad, but I've started to get over it, I think."

"That's right. And there's Elves there?"

Anduin smiled and nodded. "Yes, there are many elves there. There are probably more elves than humans."

"There's...I think an even number of Elves and Humans in Bordertown. But no one's ever done a census or anything. What's it like in Azeroth?"

"It's...not exactly good right now," Anduin admitted. "There was a very large earthquake that destroyed some of our world, but people have worked very hard to recover. We're a resilient lot, that's what I'd say. What's Bordertown like?" Anduin asked.

"Oh Gods I'm sorry to hear that." she said. "Bordertown is..." How to describe it? "It's a city of misfits. Who've found a place they can belong." That was a simple, if, in her opinion poetic way of putting it.

"Does everyone get along?" Anduin asked. "It sounds like a fun place, if there's different kinds of people around."

Sadly while Bordertown was a fully functioning anarchist society, it wasn't quite a utopia. "Well, for the most part. There are sadly, some who can't, or refuse to get along with some people. But those like that, usually tend to just keep out of the way of each other." Then she brightened. "But it is a really fun place! People from all over the world and Faerie come to live there, and they all bring bits of their own culture. Stories, and music and languages and fashions from everywhere, all combining into something new!"

"That sounds a lot like Stormwind," Anduin said. "That's the city where I'm from, and we have all kinds of people there. Everyone has their own area of the city for their people, but we all have to work together to keep the city running and everyone's ideas sort of come together, so you end up with people who might never have even met if they'd stayed in their own cities working together."

"Stormwind. If ever a city conjured images of adventure it's that. Do you have family there?"

"It's just me and my father," Anduin said, hesitating for a moment before adding, "He's the king."

"Well now isn't that a coincidence. My mother and father were the king and queen of Faery." Not to worry Anduin, Leda won't be holding that against you.

"Really?" Anduin said, relaxing visibly. "I always feel strange talking about my father, because I'm afraid people will look at me differently if they know I'm a prince. It's nice to know I don't have to worry about that with you."

"I kind of feel the same way. Okay, confession, I'm actually as of a few months ago, the queen. So, you thought being a prince was embarrassing."

"I had to be king for a few years, while my father was, um, on a diplomatic mission. So, I promise not to treat you differently, your Highness." Okay, so maybe he'd tease just a little.

"You call me that again and so help me I will curtsy and call you the same. My Lord." she grinned.

"All right, all right, I'll stop," Anduin said with a laugh. "It's certainly nice to know that I'm not alone."

"I know of at least one other of quote unquote, noble birth. Dunno if they'd like me outing them though. But yeah there's more of us than you'd think." As if it had just occurred to her (though she'd actually been thinking about it a bit before running into him), she added; "Anduin..."

"Yes?" Anduin replied, intrigued by what could make Leda sound like that.

"Would you like to have dinner with me sometime?"

Anduin was surprised by the question, but then broke into a grin. "I would love to have dinner with you."

"Excellent! How does this Tuesday sound?"

"Tuesday would be wonderful," Anduin said. "I will be very much looking forward to it."
