Devil's Nest [after sunset]

Two whole evenings with your relatives! Are you ready to ditch them and go to a club yet? Eric was certainly hoping so. The drink specials were on shots of tequila, and the music was loud and tending towards the 80s.

Come and have a good time. Tiny won't tell your mother where you are.

None of the trio of girls that came in were 21. In fact they weren't even quite 20.

They were however, by the laws of Faerie, adults. The one still in high school didn't drink anyway, so the X on her hand was merely a formality.

"So," Leda said, holding up her coke, "What should we drink to?"

Despite her little sister's protests, Momoko had made sure that there was an X on EACH of Kuriko's hands and stopped short of having one put on her face only because she wasn't sure it would come off.

"/I'm not stupid, 'nee-chan. I'm not going to drink any alcohol. It kills brain cells./"

"/That's totally what the X is for. Now the bartender won't get mixed up./" And her parents won't kill her for taking her 12-year old sister to a club that even served drinks. But like Momoko was going to leave her on her own on this island?

Momoko handed Kuriko her diet coke and raised her own glass to Leda. "Um, surviving the weekend totally sounds like an awesome toast?"

"Hey!"

Leda hadn't seen Momoko come in. It was a very pleasant surprise. "Momoko!" she squeed. "Hi! Have you met my friends Sai and Wiseguy?"

The two half-elves remembered this girl's name from Leda's story of the end of Crystaviel. She she was greeted with friendly smiles.

Momoko grinned and waved at the two girls. "No, I haven't. Hi! I'm Momoko and this is my little sister, Kuriko. Kuriko, this is my friend Leda and... her friends Sai and Wiseguy."

"Hello!" Kuriko waved cheerfully at the three girls. "Are you humans or aliens?!"

Momoko facepalmed.

Both Leda and Wiseguy had been sipping their drinks when she said this, and while they were choking (Wiseguy had a bit of rum in her lungs, while Leda had Coke in her nasal cavity), it feel to Sai to answer.

After she managed to stop herself laughing.

"Well we're not Aliens." she explained. "Leda there is an Elf. And me and Wiseguy are half human, and half elf."

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] kurikocyberpink.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
"EVEN BETTER!" Kuriko clapped her hands and grinned, leaning forward. "'Nee-chan didn't tell me anything about this place or having aliens and elves for friends!"

"For a reason," Momoko mumbled and stirred her soda.

Kuriko ignored her. Even if there was a good reason, it totally didn't matter when it came to finding out her sister's secrets. "What's a half elf?"

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] b-town-girls.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Wiseguy had recovered from her coughing fit in time to field that one. "Both Sai and I came from a 'mixed marriage'." she explained. "One of our parents was human, and the other was an Elf." And neither she, nor Sai had really had much to do with either parent for a very long time.

"THAT IS AWESOME!" Kuriko was about to ask more questions, but Momoko put a hand over her sister's mouth.

"I am totally sorry. I didn't know she was going to be here this weekend and I can't send her home because our parents think she's on a trip with some friends."

And there was the huge small matter of some threats to tell their parents about the whole school in another WORLD thing if Momoko didn't let Kuriko stay.

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
"It's okay." Leda assured her. "Kuriko it's very nice to meet you. Would you like a drink?"

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] kurikocyberpink.livejournal.com 2011-03-14 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
Kuriko raised her diet soda and pointed at it. "'Nee-chan already bought me one, thank you! And it's totally nice to meet you too! I'm glad to finally get to visit and to meet more of 'nee-chan's friends." And gather more blackmail material.

If Momoko needed funds for bribery she need only ask.

"You girls are from Japan right?" Sai asked.

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] kurikocyberpink.livejournal.com 2011-03-15 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Kuriko nodded eagerly. "Yes! Tokyo City! In a whole different world! I took a portal to get here; it was awesome, even if it was too short a trip. It was my first time taking a portal ANYwhere, though."

"And besides Kaoru, me, and Ms Bellum, you're the only one who's done it, so you totally shouldn't complain," Momoko lectured.

Kuriko rolled her eyes, trying to indicate to Sai how annoying her big sister OBVIOUSLY was. "ANYWAY."

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] b-town-girls.livejournal.com 2011-03-15 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Sai didn't have any older siblings, blood or otherwise. She did have a few adopted sisters, two of whom were present.

"I've never been to any Tokyo." she said. "Hell this is my first time going farther than Bordertown. Have either of you traveled much?"

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] kurikocyberpink.livejournal.com 2011-03-15 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Momoko shrugged. "I've been a few places? I've gone home with some of my friends and the school takes us on trips. I haven't been to Bordertown, though. Leda said I could visit but we haven't had a chance."

"You've gone to other worlds?!" Kuriko was now totally jealous. "I've only been to a few places in my own world before."

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2011-03-15 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm hoping to organize a trip later this month." Leda assured her. "For my birthday." She turned to Momoko's sister, about to give her, what Momoko might think was a bad idea. "You should attend Fandom High, we go to other worlds and planets all the time."

Re: The Bar!

[personal profile] heromaniac 2011-03-15 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Momoko laughed, trying to imagine how Kuriko would survive the school.

But Kuriko shook her head. "No, I'm totally know where I'm going already. But now that I know about that portal place, I can totally visit all the people I meet and go to new places!"

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] b-town-girls.livejournal.com 2011-03-15 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Just don't try to take a portal to Bordertown or Faerie." Wiseguy cautioned. "Magic or technology complicated enough to create portals would be too unpredictable in B-Town, and it's not possible for humans to enter Faerie."

She didn't want to see what would happen if either of those were tried with Portalocity.

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] kurikocyberpink.livejournal.com 2011-03-15 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, now you had Kuriko curious. "Technology doesn't work in your world?"

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] b-town-girls.livejournal.com 2011-03-15 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"No for some reason where we're from, technology and magic aren't compatible. In Faerie it doesn't work at all, and in the town we grew up in, which is on the border between Faerie and Earth the mix of the two makes them both unpredictable."

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] kurikocyberpink.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
"So magic and technology can't work together?!" Kuriko gaped in disbelief. "That sounds totally horrible! Just being there and it doesn't work?"

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I think it's unique to our world though." Leda said. "They both seem to work just fine here." Good thing too or Leda would be dead by now.

Re: The Bar!

[personal profile] heromaniac 2011-03-19 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Both work in Rikku's world," Momoko agreed. "At least the parts I visited. I think the rules are different for each world. But Leda, your birthday is coming up? I totally forgot it was this month!"

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2011-03-19 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Well it's just a rough estimate." Leda said. "Since time sometimes goes differently in Faerie, we had to guess which month and day."
heromaniac: (yes but)

Re: The Bar!

[personal profile] heromaniac 2011-03-20 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"As long as you have one, it totally doesn't matter how you get a birthday," Momoko chuckled. "And coming here totally messes all of that up anyway since it may not even be the same year as it is in your world."

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2011-03-20 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"And we never have any idea what year it is back home anyway."

Clubs were magnets for scandals. Coupled with the Darling twins they could easily be a recipe for a minor disaster, and that was why Miss Colfax was making the Devil's Nest her last stop before returning to New York.

She was intending to find the owner and talk to them, but for now she was by the bar, taking care of a few things at home via text messages.

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] familypublicist.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
For a moment, Miss Colfax was fairly focused on her texting, but you couldn't be stared at forever and not notice it, so once this particular issue (something about a fashion show Letitia was arranging) was taken care of, she looked up at the man who seemed so interest in her.

"Yes?" she asked with a raised eyebrow, looking expectant. "Can I help you with something?"

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] familypublicist.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Lesser women might have seemed intimidated by that. But not Miss Colfax, please. "Excuse me?" she said, sweetly. Or what passed as sweet for her. "I am sorry sir, but I have no idea what you're talking about."

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] familypublicist.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," Miss Colfax said, and saw this as a very good time to introduce herself. "Rebecca Colfax, Darling family publicist. And you are?"

Just listen to that crisp New York accent, Eric.

Re: The Bar!

[identity profile] familypublicist.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Northman?" she guessed, and it earned a smile. "Well, then you're just the person I meant to talk to."

Watch out boys and girls, NPC and otherwise the girls of Bordertown were looking for a good time! And one of them was single.
