"Hi," Dolf started off, smoothly. "We have talked with you about communication before, but it's still a very important thing. Where I used to be, we had no phones or walkie-talkies or anything, but we still needed to make sure that everyone got the right messages. In a crisis, that can be really tough, but it's pretty much the most important thing you can do. If something happens to us, for example, we should all remember to talk to the same people so we know where everyone is. The question is... how do we do that?"

"We could have something like a phone tree," Tara said. "Only, y'know, without the phone part. But if we all know who we're supposed to check in with, it can be more efficient. Or signs. Signs telling people where to meet and check-in sheets can help, if everybody is coming back to the dorms at night. If we aren't all coming back to the dorms, we'd need to figure out a central space."

"The clinic may be a good place, or town hall, if we are not using the dorms," Raven agreed. "But it is important to keep in touch with one another so that we know if someone is missing and may require help, or to ensure that necessary tasks are taken care of in case of an emergency. And it is easier to plan this now, when there is no emergency, than to wait until, as they say, all hell is breaking loose."

The Arcerian kitten in her arms yawned in her own agreement, then resumed pawing at Raven's hair.

"So we will be talking about that, if you have any suggestions," Dolf continued, brightly, "And we will play charades, because it might be good practice if we can't use other ways to communicate."

Elphaba was there, of course, and happily so. She was, however, concerned that she did not see Karla about.

She'd have to ask someone about that.

Oh, cookies. Cookies were a good way to get out her mild annoyance at the continued vague and thoroughly unfounded feeling that something maybe should be bothering her somehow.

Kennedy was just gonna grab herself a big huge handful of them, lean against a tree, and chow down with only the slightest furrow of her brow to indicate something might-- in some incredibly intangible way-- be wrong.

This was officially ridiculous.

What would be the easiest way to communicate with each other if the phones, or magic, or both weren't working? What would be a good place for everyone to gather if the dorms aren't a good idea?

And so forth. Storm some brains, people.

Someone should point out the -- to Cally at least -- obvious, and she certainly wasn't too proud to do so. "Telepathy. Obviously not everyone has psionic powers, but those of us who do can help to pass on messages even when technology fails or is being interfered with."

Charades

Grab a card (http://www.charades-ideas.com) and try to communicate what's on it without speaking.

Besides the regular cards, they've also slipped in some Fandom cards, like 'there is a gremlin on the second floor!' and 'something has eaten Town Hall!!'.

Raven had apparently drawn a musical group, not that she knew that from the words on the card. They made no sense to her, but she shrugged and tried. She reached behind herself to touch her back, then to the trail that led into the Preserve, and finally to Dolf and any other males who were at the meeting.

Raven had a kitty. Said kitty was actually a Karla, and Raven had her cloak ready just in case she suddenly became human again. Oh, Fandom.

Until then, however, Karla was very happy batting at Raven's skirt. She was going to get it, oh yes she was.

Raven smiled down at Karla-kitty, swishing her skirt for her to attack. "I wish you were yourself," she murmured. "But I will wait until you are restored so I can tell you about last night."

*I can still listen,* she sent back, trying to catch Raven's skirt. *I'm still here--GONNA GET IT! GONNA GET IT!* She dove for the skirt, tumbling forward in the grass.

Raven was free to tell Karla what she wished, but how much Karla would understand was up for grabs. As she'd said, she was still there, but...there was a lot of kitty mixed up in there as well.

Tara kept making clucking noises at the not-really-a-kitty as she listened to any discussion. Karla kitties were cute.

"Hey," Squall greeted her. She'd been useful before, had helped Rinoa use her powers safely, and had cured Seifer of whatever Ultimecia had done to him. (Although, unfortunately, not of being Seifer.)

She was huuuuuuuuuuungry! Raven hadn't fed her in...minutes!
