Fixer-Uppers [Wednesday]

William had to admit, he'd paid very little attention to politics up to this point. After all, there had only been three federal elections in his time to date, two of which he was too young to remember all that much about and the third of which had occured while he was here in Fandom.

So it was really quite surprising, then, how insistent every functioning computer at Fixer-Uppers was on him filling out some sort of quiz called a Vote Compass.

"It's not as if I can actually vote," William found himself grumbling as he fumbled his way through the questions.

[ooc: This post brought to you by that quiz initially deciding I ought to vote Liberal. Crashing now, but should be around for most of the morning & then evening after work, yay.]

On his way back to the dorms from Tony's labs, Ender came by Fixer-Uppers, and realised he hadn't spoken to William in a while. Now that he was feeling more human, if tired, it didn't seem like the worst kind of burden, either, so he pushed open the door. "Morning."

"So far, it hasn't been a disappointment," Ender said, neglecting to mention that due to lack of sleep, his internal time sense was a little off on whether it was evening, night, morning, or something else. "How about yours? I hope the systems have been behaving."

... He'd left for a walk that morning. Jane must have gotten bored. Oi.

"Canadian elections?" Ender guessed, in lieu of letting William in on the fact that he had a friend who was a computer program who was most definitely not inanimate.

"Politics are rarely stable or easy to predict," Ender mused, walking up to the counter. "Though I don't remember how this one pans out. I should have paid more attention in history class."

That was a highly ironic joke, not that William could know it.

Ender's mouth curled up into a slight smile. "Most of my knowledge tends to be more arcane, anyway," he offered, "I think I remember something about Wellington's boots..."

"So why take it?" Ender asked, glancing over. "You could just read a book."

"First time you've tried?" Ender asked.

He was mostly trying to figure out whether he should be yelling at Jane over this. Shh.

Droid baby Susannah had been bundled into a lovely, fresh, pink floral romper. The girl tending her looked ... not quite so fresh.

"It's your turn to take her," Quinn said, offering the baby to William. "She cried all last night unless I held her."

"Thanks," Quinn said, in a way that indicated the social awkwardness had not gone unnoticed. "Free advice, if and when you actually have a kid, don't tell the mother that."

"Right," Quinn said. She was pleased by the blush; it proved she hadn't totally lost her touch for discomfiting the meek(ish). "Your turn. I'll pick her up Friday, if we can find a sitter for the dance."
