The Devil's Nest, Wednesday Evening

Jessica had tried to convince Eric that whatever weirdness had made half the island turn 20 years older (she being in the half that was unaffected) was actually still affecting her, and she was now permanently aged.

Unfortunately, the attempt only got her a "Nice try, baby vamp," and it was back to manning the door for her.

It had actually been a couple weeks since Jaina had been back here, but when she stopped at the door for that whole cover charge thing, she realized, "I keep ending up here on Wednesdays."

"Well, it ain't my ability to mix drinks that keeps you comin' back," Jessica grumbled.

She'd never seen Jessica grumbly before. "Bad day?" she guessed.

"I tried to convince Eric that I'm still 37, but he didn't believe me," Jessica sighed. "Ain't like I'm going to look older, so how would he know?"

"Well, we did all change back," she pointed out not-so-helpfully.

"There could've been a chance a few people didn't," Jessica said defensively.

Clearly she hadn't been in Fandom long enough.

"Doesn't work that way," Jaina said, not unsympathetically. "Sorry. Why do you want to be 37, anyway?"

Mod the bartender and chat with other patrons.

The DJ was firmly entrenched in the 80s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPQwyXw-OUk) tonight. Sorta.

Where there might be an Eric, who was on to Jessica's wily ways.

Eric totally was. He was even texted Pam about what Jessica had just tried.

Because Eric was a bastard like that.

"Again with the phone," Jaina greeted him with a smile. It'd been a week. Yeah, she had to come by.

"Jessica tried to pretend that she was still old enough to drink," Eric said, rolling his eyes. "I had to tell Pam. Hello!"

"Kids. What're you gonna do?" Jaina said dryly, still fully aware of who she was talking to. "Hi. I meant to come by before now, but things got a little distracting."

"I'd been crying into my blood---that's gross," Eric said before she could. "It was a busy weekend," he tried instead.

"That was gross," she agreed, saying it anyway. "You didn't escape it either, huh?"

"You should now refer to me as Your Highness," Eric replied dryly. "Apparently."

"Oh, me too," she said. "What are you ruling, exactly?"

"Nevada," Eric said, "Louisiana, and Arkansas. I'm apparently very busy."

"You went from one area to three states. Someone stepped up their game." Normally she'd congratulate him, but not knowing how that sort of thing was achieved with vampires, she'd keep that to herself.

"I suppose I must have," Eric said. "I don't exactly remember how I got into that position."

Which really, really bothered him. He remembered everything about his life, at least until he'd come to this island, and then there had been a bout of amnesia and now this. He didn't like feeling out of control in the slightest.

"I say if Fandom's going to give people any clue as to where they're going to end up, at least fill in the blanks," Jaina decided. Yes, she was still irritated with that. "None of this teasing stuff."

"Yes," Eric said vehemently. "So what were you ruling?" He arched up a teasing eyebrow. "If you say Nevada, Louisiana and Arkansas I'm going to be confused."
