Prom 2011, Community Center, Friday Evening [Part 1]

The community center had been decked out once again, this time to welcome Fandom's students to their prom. The Student Council had picked a black and white theme, and that had ended up translating to classic Hollywood in the decorations. There were black and white balloons and streamers hanging up, blown up pictures from old black and white movies decorating the walls, and each table had a vase of lillies, to give the place a little extra springtime feel.

Tiny white lights had been hung up all around the dance floor to give people a bright place to get their groove on, and the only thing that didn't match the theme was the food and drink table, which was covered with all kinds of moddable treats. With everything set up, the doors were opened, and the evening was ready to begin.

Ender had never really avoided wearing his IF dress uniform (sans decorations) before, and while this might have been his first prom, he wasn't fussed to change that now.

So he was there, on his own, looking both perfectly fine with it all and a little out of place. The chances of him staying here, on the other hand, were going to grow smaller as the chances of the punch being spiked went up.

In other words, business as usual.

Jono was not exactly what anybody would call 'well rested' this evening, considering the turn his week had taken while in New Orleans. Still, he was willing to acknowledge that he really only got one Senior Prom, and tired or not, he wasn't about to miss it, just so long as he could take it in with the loveliest lady he knew on one arm.

He still hated these formal events, though. Even if he had been able to find a new suit at the last minute.

Calvin had dragged his one and only suit out from the back of his closet for tonight, although his one and only tie was once again missing-in-action.

Suit on, Alex arrived and almost got a little wistful that this might be his very last dance attended as a student. Of course, he shook that wistfulness away quickly, straightened his tie and grinned.

If it was the last dance, he planned on making it a good one.

Although it was true that William could typically be found in a suit, they were not quite as sharp as the tuxedo he'd acquired for formalwear.

At least, he rather hoped 'sharp' was the impression said tuxedo gave off.

Kate had a gorgeous date, a pretty dress, and a pair of knockoff Vivienne Westwood shoes. Yeah, she was pretty ready for this dance she'd barely been expecting to go to just a few short weeks ago, and she didn't even care that this was her and Bod's first official public appearance as a couple again. People could just deal with it.

She turned towards Bod with a hint of a smirk. "So did you get any incredibly helpful advice from Puck this time around?"

Yesterday, for a very brief period, Bobby was in possession of two tuxedos. Now, he only had one. And there was a lack of blue sunglasses this time.

And also of entrance pat-downs for weapons, so he was calling it a win.

"Well, I match the color scheme at least," he remarked to Sookie.

Loving her new dress (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/StargateAddict/Alex/Belongings/promdress1.png), Alex showed up to the dance sans a date. Not that she minded. She was trying not to think about the fact that this was the last dance she'd be going to as a senior.

Instead, she admired the decorations, impressed with what the student council had come up with. Alex smiled brightly, ready to have some fun.

Just because he didn't have a date, didn't mean Jake wasn't going to show up. He'd pulled out his tuxedo from last year and had traded the tie for a bowtie to at least hide the recycling thing.

Quinn had the advantage of knowing the theme ahead of time, so of course she'd dressed (http://www.bluefly.com/Theia-black-silk-chiffon-embellished-long-dress/cat20110/311499001/detail.fly) to fit with it. Black looked good on her, anyhow.

Even if she wasn't going to be prom queen, this seemed like it might be a very good night.

Ignoring all social customs that said one went to this of all dances with a date, Caroline showed up all alone. And as an underclassman, despite her age and former status as a senior at home.

At the very least Caroline thought she looked fantastic in her amazing new dress (http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD455196). Now, to quickly find people to talk to so no one noticed she was stag.

Tara was happy to be at prom. It was Kennedy's senior prom, after all; it had to be a good night.

She was just, maybe, the tiniest, slightest bit ... tired, after the previous week's adventures. Yes. Not about to fall asleep in the punch, but tired enough that she was already looking forward to taking her heels and her dress off and ... maybe doing something else.

But first, there were people to talk to.

At some point earlier that morning, Nathan had decided to show up at the dance. He was a junior, he could go and he had nothing better to do than to see what a prom was like. They didn't have those in Ireland or England.

So, he'd put on his entire suit (unlike the half suit of last night) and was there, hair manageable and tamed, flask tucked in a pocket and looking fairly impressed by the decorations.

Faramir had donned his suit and tied his hair back in a small ponytail. He still felt rather odd in this world's clothes, especially after having spent a what had been nearly a week back in Gondor.

He was certain it did not matter as the lady beside him would draw all the attention towards her. Unlike him, she looked comfortable in the suit and even if it was him saying so, she looked rather enticing as well.

"These decorations are rather preferable to the ones of the previous dance," he remarked.

Black and white ball was a lovely theme, and Emma was rather sure everyone expected her to wear white. It did suit her, after all.

Which is why she showed up in a stunning red strapless gown, hair pinned up to leave her neck and shoulders bare. It was her senior prom, and Emma planned to make it memorable.

The good thing about prom was that it was in the spring, and Tahiri could indulge in her favorite wardrobe-related idiosyncracy without worrying about losing her toes. Maybe the dress she'd chosen would have been complimented nicely by a nice pair of shoes, but she was much happier without them, anyhow.

It was her last prom in Fandom; she should make it a good one. Shoes wouldn't be conducive to that.

They had to pick a color?

Blackagar frowned at the selection, mostly for the photographer's sake than anything else. It wasn't like Medusa couldn't tell how dubious he was about this process.

Food Table and Punch

Have your punch now, before it gets tainted, and enjoy the variety of sweets and desserts that were made for the evening.

After spending a lot of his time talking and staring at Kate, Bod had wandered away to let her chat with other people and ended up near the food table.

The sweets caught his eye and soon enough he was nibbling on a cookie and drinking some of the unspiked punch.

This whole 'being the responsible adult' thing was still pretty new for Reno. So many friggin' rules. No spiking the punch. No letting the students burn the place down. No encouraging the soon-to-be graduates to streak through their grad ceremony the way that he'd done.

Where was the fun in being grown up, anyhow?

Ah well. He was here anyhow, making faces at his cup of pre-spiked punch, and trying to look respectable. Or less bored. Or something.

Ender had picked up some food earlier, but he'd eaten it fairly quickly and tossed the left-overs in the trash. Now he was here, observing quietly.

Maybe a little lost in his own thoughts, and maybe wondering vaguely what Jane would have to say about it all. He had a Bluetooth set he needed to work on, obviously.

A slow song was just starting up as Kate led Bod out to the dancefloor. It was perfect for their kind of shuffling and swaying, really, and Kate smiled as she turned to face him.
