Student Council Graduation Mixer [Community Center, Thursday, April 28, Afternoon]

With graduation only days away, guests were beginning to arrive on the island today and Student Council, in accordance with tradition, had pulled out the blue and gold streamers and the inflatable gremlin wall decorations and was hosting the annual Graduation Mixer.

Yes, there were nametags, but there was also snacks, so that balanced things out, right?

Come out, students and guests, and compare embarrassng childhood photos of the graduates get your mingle on! It's the beginning of graduation weekend!

Hannibal didn't know if he needed a nametag but he picked one up anyway and stuck it to the front of his shirt. He felt a little less tense about being here but he was still wearing sunglasses as he set off to see what was happening so far.

Sure, she was late coming in, but far be it for Ariel to miss a party! She had burst in after hastily getting ready following a span of losing time while exploring. You know how it went. But she was here now, and she was eager to have fun and maybe meet some new people, some friends of some of her schoolmates.

Arguably, that exasperated look on the face of the woman who'd just put on the Constance Aluko nametag was part and parcel of her job description. The severity of the exasperated look, though, had everything to do with the specifics of her job description: namely being Kennedy's Watcher.

It wasn't that Constance, after two years, was remotely surprised any more at Kennedy's tendency to run off and help save some world somewhere; she was resigned to that.

Just... marveling at the fact that Kennedy had gone off to do that today of all days, with only a hurried and not at all informative text message this morning for a heads-up. She was almost ready to swear that Kennedy had deliberately timed it this way just to leave her in the position of explaining the girl's absence to her father.

After a very fast flight and a very long shower, Luke was ready to mingle, track down relatives and marvel anew at how many people he didn't recognize.

The nametag got a smile as he put it on. It was nice to be back to a place where his name wasn't on a detain-and-interrogate list.

Hank was very pleased with himself. He'd gotten the invitation to Emma's graduation, and managed to keep it a secret from her for a whole month. He had a hard time keeping secrets in the first place, but the fact he'd managed it with a bossy teenage telepath was doubly-cause for celebration.

He was going to stick to the shadows, for now, since he didn't want people to throw rocks, but he had an eye out for his erstwhile ward.

Obviously, Angela was going to be here for this. Whether she really needed a nametag was up for debate, but she wasn't going to bother when it was just as easy to say she did, pin it onto her shirt and waste no time hunting down people she knew.

Hoshi didn't think she needed a name tag since it had only been a year since her graduation. At least, she thought it had only been a year. Sometimes time travel left her a bit confused.

After picking up a cup of punch, Hannibal wandered aimlessly around the community center, keeping the sunglasses on despite being inside. It just helped him feel slightly more comfortable.

Alex figured since he was graduating, had to make a speech and had a brother coming in, he should show up. He'd gotten a lot of sleep since coming back from retrieving Emma but he was still a little tired.

So, he was downing the punch and leaning against one of the walls, looking around.

A party wasn't a party without mingling, and Ariel was very pleased to see that she wasn't so late that she'd missed out on some of the particularly good snacks. Exploring and picking through trash at the junkyard built up quite the appetite.

Kate had no idea when her brother was coming, or if he'd even make it to the mixer. They'd had enough trouble trying to make sure he'd show up on the right day, or at the very least within the weekend, so figuring out stuff like hours hadn't really been on the agenda.

Kate was here with a glass of punch, regardless. Even if her brother would only show up in the middle of the night, there was no reason for her not to take the chance to meet some of her fellow graduates' friends and families.

Bod wasn't graduating but he'd decided to attend anyway since the closest person to him was graduating and he wanted to be around to support her should she need it.

Punch in hand, he wandered around quietly, taking in the beginnings of an event he hadn't experienced before.

Because he was certainly not graduating, Alexander had considered skipping out on this graduation mixer thing, but then he thought of his mother's voice in his head, lecturing on the importance of such events because you never know who you might meet or what you might learn. So the finery was out again and Alexander was hanging out by the punch bowl, thinking that he'd much rather be enjoying ice cream and a terrible film right now.

Raven was trying to keep in denial about graduation, but the activities made it difficult. But at least seeing old friends might help her keep her mind off other things, like her inability to heal Triela, so she decided to check out the mixer.

Well, this whole socialization thing still wasn't Jonothon's strong point, but... given the way that graduation was lingering so stupidly closely on the horizon now, and he wasn't going to get many opportunities to see many of these people again at least for a while...

He was here, keeping an eye open for familiar faces, and ready to duck and cover if it looked like there might be any flying hugs headed his way.

Harper helped herself to some punch as she kept a wary eye on the crowd. She hadn't exactly told her parents about the graduation ceremony. But judging by the strange voicemail she'd gotten this morning, they knew something.

Chuck wasn't graduating, or visiting, but he figured that knowing (and liking!) some of the people who were graduating, or having people visit, was as close to an excuse to be here as he needed.

So here he was, loitering near the snacks tables. As usual.

Anthea wasn't exactly mingling. It was a little difficult to mingle when you didn't know anyone (and besides the people who were seemed to be more teenagers rather than their parents), so she'd chosen to find herself a drink and a plate of snacks and settle on the sidelines where she could keep an eye out for Effy.

Her daughter, so far, was nowhere to be seen, and wasn't that just par for the course.

Alex grabbed some punch and eyed the crowd, as she mulled over which snack to try first. She wasn't exactly sure when her family was going to show, she just knew they were coming. Which was probably why she had the sudden urge to disappear until graduation came around.
