Devil's Nest [after graduation]

"That ceremony was almost as weird as Sophie-Anne's reception," Eric told Tiny as he came into the club a little bit late. "There were fewer decapitations this time."

High school kids. Hmph. What could you do?

He found himself a seat at the bar today and waited to see how many recent graduates would come in. He'd even offer to translate the insults the Vikings had been yelling at them if they could remember the Old Norse.

Just another Saturday night in Fandom...

Marshall didn't generally drink. However, what he'd seen at the ceremony called for something stronger, and he knew there was a place in town that didn't card, so he decided to go there instead of returning to his hotel straight away. ...Of course, since Kate had scurried off-island with her boyfriend and wasn't there to advice her little brother, he picked the wrong place.

By the time he'd gotten an X drawn on the back of his hand he'd already accepted his fate. "Guess I'll just have an apple soda, thanks," was the mild request he made to Tiny. Who he was only somewhat intimidated by, really.

"I'm not lost," Marshall replied, a tad defensively. Also, holy crap, was it just him or was everyone here really big or really tall? "It was my sister's graduation."

"I think her boyfriend took her to Washington DC. I just came here for a drink." He raised his glass of soda at Eric. "Which I guess was a failure. But she deserved to get away after all... that."

Marshall let that Viking comment go with nothing more than a slight raise of his eyebrow. Seriously, his brain was on overload as it was.

"Kate," he said. Then, realizing that might not be enough, since it was kind of a common name, "Uhm, Kate Gregson?"

Sookie came in, still in the dress she'd worn to the ceremony -- with all the signs of such -- and strode right over to the bar. "I have a question for you."

"Guilty dogs," Sookie said, eyeing him with a raised eyebrow. "No, I was gonna ask you for a translation. What's 'fiðrildi' mean?"

Sorry she just butchered your native tongue, Eric.

"I mind-tricked him," Sookie said, shaking her head. "You know, tapped into his brain and made him calm down. Apparently he found butterflies very calming."

"He also didn't like his wife. Look, I didn't put the butterflies there," Sookie said, waving a hand at him. "Now, do I get some kind of graduation shot before I have to go deal with my brother again?"

"Now this is more like it," Isabela decided as she sauntered inside, casting a look around. The lack of corpses helped liven up the place. Little did she know.

No, it was no coincidence that she ended up beside tall and blonde. He looked very Ferelden in a way and she leaned her hands on the bar. "What's the strongest thing they serve here, handsome?"

Isabela laughed and glanced sideways at Eric. "All too often I don't want to know. I'm pretty sure some how those taverns think rat droppings are a necessary ingredient. As long as it doesn't make me blind, I won't complain."

"Graduation?" she asked and shook her head before she ordered that Everclear stuff.

"Since I don't know what you're talking about, I'm taking that as a no. I got stranded here. Quite literally." She turned her back on the counter, resting her elbows against it in a position that she knew very well tended to accentuate certain features. "Are you here for this graduation thing?"

She would be rather insulted if he didn't, not a lot of girls went about without pants after all. "Really? How do you manage to stay sane then?"
