Jane was not at all surprised to see that there had been a pile of paperwork collecting near the front counter, the sort of paperwork that Mr. Kyōraku should be attending to, but exactly the sort that Mr. Kyōraku never attended to. She gave a wilting look across the store at Mr. Nahasapeemapetilon, who just shrugged and gave her a sympathetic, apologetic look.
"Well, all right," she said, out loud so that anyone in attendance could see how kind she was to help, "I suppose I shall assist him with this sort of thing yet again, but, really, I am beginning to wonder if that man even knows how to write, or if he's just pretending all the time...."
She knew apes who could do more on a professional capacity than Mr. Kyōraku could ever do, but, well, someone did have to do it. At least it would keep her busy, should the traffic be slow.
