"Hello?"

Sov had found some kind of recording device. It didn't work quite as well as it should to be actually useful, as the sound occasionally disappeared, but that didn't discourage Sov. Instead they used it to record an improvised radio show involving interviews with odd things on the shelves. Unfortunately the interviewees remained silent.

"Sov?" Juliet sounded a bit uncertain as she came into the shop. "Hiiii. So ... if my cell phone is being all weird, can you fix it? I've never had anything fixed before."

Trip Darling was refusing to buy Juliet another new phone. The moment called for thriftiness. There was also the side bonus of being able to see Sov, which she hadn't done often enough lately.

Sov looked up, offering Juliet a bright smile while they fumbled with the device to turn it off.

"Juliet! Hi! What's wrong with it?"

They didn't know much about cell phones, unfortunately, but they could try.

"What was that?" Juliet asked, looking to see what they had turned off before she answered the question. "And, um, I'm not actually sure? The video camera is all fuzzy. Like, when I try to film something, it says it is but then the playback looks strange."

She probably just needed a new video card.

"Want to see?"

"I found it in the shop," Sov said. "It's recording sounds but doesn't work very well. I was just playing with it." There was a slight blush, in case Juliet thought that 'playing' was childish.

"Strange how?" They added. "I can have a look at it."

Don't break it even more, Sov.

"You probably need ways to keep busy," Juliet said, not bothered by 'playing' at all.

She tapped at buttons on her phone, trying to bring up a recent video. "How have you been, anyhow? I know it's been forever. I hardly see anyone now that we're in the cabins."

Sov could have said that they'd missed Juliet, but they didn't. They had, though.

"I was a rabbit for a few days," they said instead. "And you?"

"I was some random girl from Pittsburgh," Juliet said, frowning a bit. "Seriously. I'd take the animal one."

She'd missed Sov too.

"Were you cute?"

They blushed again. "I didn't look myself in the mirror." They laughed. "You were someone else?"

"A lot of us were!" Juliet protested indignantly. "Tony was all ... fat and dramatic. And my brother was a superstar. And you're a cute person, so I bet you were a cute bunny."

"Oh, yes, people were acting oddly. But then they do that a lot." There was a pause. "Thank you." And another pause. "You're very cute too."

That charmed a girlish giggle out of Juliet. "I know, right? I think someday soon we'll probably all think we're ice cream and sit around melting and it'll just be -- sad." Or actually turn into ice cream and melt, but that was more depressing than Fandom funny, so Juliet didn't mention that part.

A pause as she fluffed her hair with the hand that wasn't still tapping away at her phone. "And, uh, you're welcome. We're both very cute!"

Sov grinned. "Yes, we are. Unless we're ice cream. Do you want to have ice cream with me some day?"

Juliet blinked at the topic change, then grinned at the question itself. "Yes. I mean, sure. I'm not that busy!"

"Good!" Sov said happily. The idea had been sudden and if they had stopped the think perhaps the question had not been asked. "So, your cell phone."

"My cell phone," Juliet repeated, finally loading a video clip. It wasn't anything special, just some footage of her touring her cabin that she was going to send to a friend in New York. "See! All fuzzy."

Then: "Ice cream when, Sov?"

Sov squinted at the screen. They didn't have a clue, but perhaps pressing a few buttons would work?

"When? Sunday?"

[Any idea what's wrong with the cell phone?]

"Sunday's great," Juliet answered, a bit absently as she watched them push buttons. "Don't erase anything!"

Not that she thought they would, but it paid to be clear.

"Oh, no, no!" Sov hoped they hadn't actually done so by accident. They handed the phone back. "I'm sorry, I don't know what's wrong," they admitted. "Perhaps Tony could help you?"

Yes, Sov would have wanted to be able to fix it, but they weren't stupid. Some things were beyond their expertise.

"Oh." Juliet looked disappointed, but only a little -- she'd gotten an ice cream date out of it, and she could live without a video phone for a few days. "Okay, so, I'll come back when Tony is here?"

Sov nodded. "Or just ask him when you see him." If they couldn't help themselves, at least they could point Juliet in the right direction. Also, there would be an ice cream date.
