Devil's Nest - Sunday

Isabela was in a fine mood today. She'd spent most of her day at Fandom's latest destination. There was the scent of sea in the air again and she'd watched the ships pulling in and out of the port. Some of them had been galleys and she couldn't help but ponder what it'd be like to own one. Watching all those fine rowers pull at the oars. Such a fine view. Add the nice amount of gold she'd made leaping over bulls and she could grow to like this Atlantis.

Maybe tomorrow she'd find her entertainment there for the evening. For now, she sad as usual behind the bar. A glass of fine wine beside her as she scribbled away at some crumpled up pages. There was a good chance it was a story of a beautiful pirate queen and her faithful rowers. Ahem.

The words dance club were definitely enough to make Charlie wary of a place like this; any music that may or may not be pumping through the walls before he came in was yet another reason why he should keep his distance. Still, curiosity (and pure boredom, really) just got the best of a man sometimes, and a bar was a bar, beer was beer, and, well, drinking in a bar that served minors that he wasn't supposed to give a stink eye toward before turning a blind one was just weird right now. So the proper-drinking-age-and-up-only joint it was tonight.

But at least he'd gotten a Father's Day call from Bella earlier. Even if he knew Renee had probably made her call him.

"Get me a nice, refreshing Coors Lite."

Somewhere, in another section of the multiverse, down another leg of the Trousers of Times, a sergeant previously in Charlie's position let out an annoyed huff and couldn't explain why.

Charlie was a pretty simple man with a very shortened view of the world, and so he took the bartender's words into the context of his own personal change of scenery rather than the one outside the island, which he hadn't really taken much notice of.

He did take notice of the woman's clothes, though, or, really, lack thereof. What? Had he inadvertently wandered into a theme night or something?

But this new location was getting him down a bit. "Is it that obvious?" he asked, before giving a sigh and hunching comfortably over the bar in the classic manner of a man who spent a lot of time at a bar. "Guess it's just not that easy of a change."

Charlie gave a gruff snort at that, pulling the beer in close to take a good swig of it. "That bad, huh? It's even worse than I thought. I'll probably be needing another one of these in a few minutes, then."
