Mary really didn't want to be working today. Her mind just didn't want to focus on anything, so she was grateful when Danny called from Las Vegas. However, he had more than just the usual round-up of gossip. He was really worried about Mike since no one had heard from in a while.

Well, that certainly gave Mary something to focus on. When she finished talking to Danny, she started calling all of the contacts she had left in Las Vegas. There had to be someone who knew had talked recently to Mike...

Hope waited patiently for Mary to get off the phone. Mary looked worried; Hope didn't like that. She hoped nothing was wrong.

Once Mary ~~logged in as the correct character, dammit~~ realized that the person on the phone was more interested in scoring a date than helping her find someone, she made her excuses and hung up.

"Sorry about that. Some people don't know when to stop talking," she said, shaking her head slightly. "What can I help you with today?"

"Had a question about something but that can wait," Hope said with a dismissive wave of her hand. "You looked a little upset. Is everything okay?"

"Oh, a friend of mine seems to be hiding under the radar," said Mary. "I'm sure he can take care of himself, but he found out that his wife is cheating on him. The last person who seems to have talked to him is a divorce lawyer, and that was weeks ago. No one else has seen him since then."

"Is it out of character for him to be hiding like this?" Hope asked, the reporter in her coming out for once.

"A bit," admitted Mary. "Normally if he's in Las Vegas, he would have been going out to the clubs every night. I can't imagine he'd go this long without showing up at Pure or Mystique."

"Hm." Hope frowned thoughtfully. "Want me to call a guy I know? He can probably help."

Because really, you didn't hide from the Cabals. Not for long, anyway.

"If you could, I'd appreciate it," said Mary. "If my friend Danny can't find him with his Las Vegas connections, then I don't know what else to do."

"No problem," Hope assured her. "Just make sure you've told me everything so I can give my guy all the details."

"I'll be happy to give you everything I have on Mike. I really hope he hasn't gotten himself in a lot of trouble. He's normally the one who comes to rescue," said Mary.

"Then we'll just have to go to his rescue if need be," Hope said with a nod.

Mary chuckled. "I don't often get to rescue anyone, despite the craziness that happens on the island," she said.

"Well here you go, now's your chance." Hope grinned. "I'll call my guy soon as you give me everything you can, so we can get a start. If he's not in trouble, wonderful. But if something's wrong, then I wanna get a jump on this."

Gunther and the hotel staff are always available. It's not like anyone calls Gunther on that ancient flip phone of his.

Sure, someone has to unplug the modem while I'm in the middle of posting my OCD.
