Cafe Fina, Tuesday Evening

Momoko wasn't avoiding talking to Jaime, she was just... still thinking. About the things that Dinah had said. And going over again (and again and again and again) the things Jaime had managed to say on Saturday before Momoko had walked away.

Okay, she was totally avoiding Jaime and thinking about it all.

And stuffing herself with as many pastries as the staff of the Cafe Fina (and her wallet) would allow her. She'd even bought a dinner salad, in case one of the staff decided to call Jaime and tell on her.

She wondered, as she'd ordered it, if he would have come and chided her about the sweets. The face that she made got her a flustered look from the Cheese Grater, who rushed back to the kitchen to put in an order for another Chocolate Raspberry Torte for her.

[Cafe Fina is open! Feel free to sit as close to or as far away from the emo-Momoko as you'd like, of course!]

Leda and Tick Tick came in, the latter leaning on the former a bit. She may be feeling better, but she was still pretty wiped.

"I think maybe some chicken soup would be good too." Leda told her. "Or at least broth. When was the last time you ate anything?"

Leda looked towards the not entirely surprising voice. They were on her home turf after all.

"Hi Momo. You remember Tick Tick right?"

Tick Tick waved. "May we join you?"

Tick Tick smiled wanly. "I'm on the mend so to speak. There's something going around in Bordertown. Leda was kind enough to bring me here for treatment."

"Oh Gods no." Tick Tick insisted, laying a comforting hand on Momoko's. Not to worry she wasn't contagious. Especially not to humans. "No this is entirely due to something native to Bordertown. Well, possibly imported from Faerie. The investigation was ongoing last I heard."

[identity profile] b-town-girls.livejournal.com 2011-06-29 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Tick Tick nodded. "That's more or less exactly what it is. Elves aren't normally susceptible to it, but...well some people did some very foolish things that changed that."

"They weren't. The sickness is an unforseen side effect of what they were trying to do." Tick Tick said.

Leda however, had her suspicions.

Tick Tick retreated into the cup of tea she'd just been given, leaving it to Leda to answer.

"The sickness is a side effect of humans trying to literally turn into Elves."

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2011-06-30 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"No. We can't." she replied bluntly. "But some one, some depraved alchemist I suppose claimed to have come up with a substance that would do it. And enough humans hated themselves enough Bella Swan that they would go to any lengths to become better." Yes, she was bitter. "So they decided to become Sparkly Vampires Elves. The substance worked enough to alter their physiology slightly, and apparently, the flu germ as well."

The change also ravaged the body so much that it could no longer survive.

"There's sort of police. And yes they're looking into it. You remember Orient? He's helping track down the culprit."

"When he's not almost getting himself killed." Tick Tick muttered.

[identity profile] b-town-girls.livejournal.com 2011-06-30 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Whoever is behind it is fond of bombs." Tick Tick sighed. "And Orient, who I thought would be more sensible, keeps deciding to play the hero."

[identity profile] b-town-girls.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Tick Tick was unusual among Elves due to her interest and aptitude with machines. But she was very much typical of their race in terms of maintaining decorum.

So the outburst shook her a bit, but she remained stoic. "Yes. Whoever is orchestrating the production and distribution of the substance has been using bombs to cover his tracks."

Leda believed that the ultimate mastermind behind this whole thing did in fact, want this to happen. Her conspiracy theory was that Corwyn wanted the disease to scare the people of Faerie into shunning all contact with humans.

Tick Tick didn't know about that theory and likely would have thought Leda was being a tad paranoid.

"I think it more likely that they do not care about the negative consequences. They are doubtless profiting off the drug."

It would be complicated, as Leda couldn't get into Bordertown without risking getting the Elf Flu. And communications in Bordertown couldn't be too technological.

But she and Tick Tick were confident they could work something out.

"We'll work something out." Leda nodded.
