Fixer-Uppers!!! Friday!!!
Oh, man, the store still looked awesome. And now she had one more employee, and this place just got more busy all the time! That happened to be very very cool. And today, she was going to finally dump out all of the random stuff she'd gotten from monsters on her last trip home and sort it and see if she could make anything useful from the loot.
Of course there had been monsters. Nothing in Spira ever managed to get anywhere without monsters. It was like a rule.
Fixer-Uppers was way totally open.
(open/ocd-free!)

//I don't suppose you understand dog?// he whimpered, //Or at least be able to fix this thing?//

Give her a minute and she'd check out the box. Cute dog made for sensory overload.

Hopefully, Jack would forgive the babytalk when he heard the rustle of a huge bag of beef jerky being yanked out and rustled open. (Yes, she carried one in her leg pouch. She also had a wrench in there, and a few hundred different kinds of bombs, and ... okay, the inside was bigger than the outside, all right?)
"Treat-treat?" she asked, holding out a few pieces for the puppy in one hand. "Take nice."

His tail was wagging so hard it was banging the box with loud "Thwacks!"
no subject
"Ooooh, what's in the box?" she asked, finally bothering to look over. "Did you bring me a present?"
no subject
He padded over to the box and pawed it a couple of times. //Can you fix this?// he yipped. //It was... destroyed by a spider. Just my luck.//

She reached over to pat the dog's head before riffling through the box. "It looks like a scooter," she said. "Some structural damage. I bet I can fix it up in a snap. Is this yours?"
She tilted her head at him, like some dim light bulb was flickering into place. "Waaaaaaaait a second. Are you ... are you a student?"
no subject
//Yep!// Jack barked affirmatively. And then bobbed his head up and down to mimic a human. //Don't suppose you can fix me?//
...
//Fix me as in making me human. Not the other thing.//
She still doesn't understand dog, Jack.

Rude lurked against the wall and watched Rikku. "Nice haul. Anything... interesting?"
no subject
She had picked up certain verbal tics from Reno. One was 'yoto.' The other was taking several seconds to pronounce Rude's name.
The flying leap hug was all her own.
"Did you miss me? It was just supposed to be some stupid diplomatic thing but then there were monsters. At least I got a decent-sized stash. I haven't looked it over yet. Anything you need upgraded? I'm bored so I'll even give you a good price."
no subject
"You have to be bored before you'll give me a discount?" he asked. "I'm... hurt."
no subject
Using words like 'buttloads' probably didn't help.

He pulled off one glove and slid the materia out of the slots near its cuff. "How much for a strength increase?"
no subject
"It depends how much of an increase we're talking," she said. "Something like three percent, that's not even worth your time to put on here. Twenty percent, you can't afford, and I don't have the supplies, anyway. Five and ten are both doable, but one's more expensive than the other, obviously."
