Pixie Dust; Tuesday [ 07/12 ].

As much as she enjoyed being a pony for a while, Ariel was relieved to find out that she was still able to turn back into a human. Sure, she loved legs and having four were fantastic, but she missed having feet and you really got to appreciate the fact that you always had hands once you were stuck with hooves. Plus, she was exhausted. Frolicking and galloping everywhere really took a lot out of a girl!

But now it was back to business, and she supposed she couldn't be blamed for putting some horse inspired fashion front and center in the shop today.

The NOW HIRING! sign was still in the window and Pixie Dust is open!

Chuck hadn't been a horse all weekend. But not having to deal with having hooves at all was as good a reason to celebrate with coffee and cookies in town as turning back after was, he thought.

And being out in town and knowing someone who worked in town and might be there was a good reason to show up at her work. With cookies. There was logic. It was not just an excuse to see her. And bring food. Clearly.

... He'd way overthought this, as with most things.

But at least to start, he came out with a more normal wave of greeting and a "Not too busy?" just in case she had actual work to be doing, rather than... the not work that was his visit.

"I... hadn't really thought about my pink shirt needs," he admitted. "I mean, I don't own one. But I don't know if that means I should have one..." That was a nice round-about way of saying no, he was not looking for a pink shirt.

"Are you specifically trying to sell people pink shirts this week?"

"It's not still the same pink one you were trying to talk me into before, right?" It was about a year ago, so he was assuming not, but... It didn't hurt to check.

"I'm sure it knows you're trying to find it a good home!" he offered, then frowned, realising what a weird comment that really was, and shook his head.

Moving swiftly on!

"But uh, no, not looking for a shirt. Pink or otherwise. I was just here, and I figured since it was... a day, that you might be here and might appreciate a visit." And cookies, which he indicated by raising his paper bag.

"White chocolate and cranberry cookies," he answered, grinning in return. "It's no Cheeto pizza, but I thought... Well, they looked really good." They just did. Mmm.

"And hey, wow. Manager? That is pretty awesome. Congratulations!" He didn't know how long that'd been the case, but probably since the last time he'd spoken to her? Maybe.

Chuck grinned, putting the cookie (http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/brandied_cranberry_white_chocolate_chip_cookies/) bag down on her counter.

"I think we can," he decided nodding. "I mean, who can tell us not to, right? And promotion, I call that a big thing. I mean before, they were just regular cookies. This gives them purpose."

"To that," Chuck agreed, happily tapping his cookie against hers. "I am liking this whole cookie toast thing. Who needs champagne!" Not them!

"I would try and claim this is better for us... but I'm not actually sure if that's true."

"Totally." Even with the chocolate. "That's one of our five-a-day. There are just so many good reasons for cookies." Especially when there was sharing involved.

"So hey, did you have one of those pony-full weekends?" he wondered.

"May have, but didn't," Chuck admitted. "I'm not that disappointed... Mostly because I think lack of opposable thumbs would've driven me crazy," he said, flexing the ones he did have illustratively.

"I like my fingers quite a lot..."

"... How did putting on bandages make you dizzy?" He was also kind of impressed she'd managed to put bandages on with hooves at all, but first things first.

It was a very uncertain, reluctant Alice who came in to Pixie Dust on her lunch break, looking quite hesitant and sure that some of the clothing might leap up from the racks and bite her.

"I ... believe I am in need of assistance," she called out, nervously, before she could change her mind and flee the other direction.

"Are those earrings miniature horses?" Alice asked. Because no topic was off-topic, not when you were mad. "Or knights, perhaps? One could make a quite excellent chess display, if the latter. Knights, pawns, a queen and a rook ..."

If there was any chess-themed clothing in here, Ariel could make the easiest sale of her life.

Although, first, Alice should get to the matter at hand. And so she lifted the once-oversized, and now severely strained, shirt in order to show off her problem.

Which was a pair of jeans that had very nearly given up the ghost. They had been safety-pinned into place; the seams were frayed, and Alice had taking to patching them and sewing in pleats and panels where necessary. Anything to avoid this step which she now found herself facing.

"My bump is causing difficulties with my clothing," she said.

Denial was a very difficult thing. And it had not been pleasant to Alice's clothing, either.

She would buy new jeans when this mishap was over.

"I've no aversion to horses," Alice said, "though I've no real preference for them, either. But I ... I am placing myself in your hands, here."

She drew a nervous breath before the rest piled out in a rush. "I tried to go into a clothing store, once before," she confessed, "and find the section for ... women who have bumps." Maternity. "I spotted a candy-pink shirt with 'Baby Love' written in sequins, and I fled. I would rather spend the next few months piecing together rags than wear clothing that assumes that gestation means I've replaced my mind with cotton candy."

"Not so long as they've no need for petticoats underneath," Alice said. "Trousers are more practical, but I hardly think these count as practical for anything at this point."

Nor did they look all that pleasant. And a nice summery dress sounded delightful.

"How quickly might deliveries come in?" she asked. "Do you suppose there might be blouses without ... ridiculous sayings on them?"

She was coming around very, very slowly on this whole 'pregnancy' matter. Cutesy slogans were counterproductive.
