Across Town, All Day Friday
The trees directly surrounding the camp grounds had started to crumble. There was little left of the cabins themselves, large patches worn away by animals and humans alike. Silence had descended on this patch of land; the only movement was the unreal swaying of what remained of the grass, the ripples that formed in the puddle at the center, only where the light touched it.
And still the blasted heath expanded. It had engulfed the forest now, twisting every tree into that darkened shadow of itself, and fanning out towards the grasses in the park. Now it infringed upon the roads of Fandom, along the edges - a wrong step could send a patch of stone crumbling into dust. Here and there, even walls were affected - turning grey, though not brittle.
There was no more birdsong to be heard anywhere on the island. Just creaking, like mangled crows, and mindless screams for sustenance.

Instead, he did the perfectly reasonable thing and slunk into the preserve to kill something. Making it as messy as possible. Those alots were probably going to die anyway. He just helped them along.

There were plenty of people on the island with the inclination to get to the bottom of this, more than enough that Tahiri didn't feel any urgency to join them, and in the meantime there were people who needed to be protected. (It was a safer, more tangible, and more Jedi-like reaction than trying, out of sympathetic anger, to exact punishment on some indeterminable thing for what it was doing to the island's residents.)
She could hope they'd be all right later, or plan to be there for them if they weren't, but that was later. Now consisted entirely of holding her swath of ground between the preserve and the dorms with her lightsaber and Force exertion, keeping the creatures at bay.
It was the first time in a very long time that she'd done this without Ben to joke with and make plans with for dinner and ice cream afterward. Knowing she could do it . . . that was important, too.

So Titian's daughter went a-hunting through the streets and alleyways of town, intent on slaying any of the perversions that strayed into her path. There were still landens here, and possibly children, and Surreal wasn't just going to leave them unprotected to die.
The fact that such hunting got her blood singing, well, Surreal was a bit of a special girl.

"Hey there, sugar," she said, sliding her fingers along the stiletto sheathed on her leg. "Where's the fire?"
If he attacked her, it meant she could stab him. If he didn't...maybe he wasn't too far gone yet.
no subject
"Why don't you run along and get an extinguisher?"
[[Wow, LJ, thanks for the notif. NOT. Sigh.]]

There! A deer! Or was that just a sharp gust of wind? Either way, he wanted to hit it.

"I'm powerwalking," he said finally. "Now can you move?"

"Thanks for the advice," he said dryly, then leaned forward to try to pat Surreal on the shoulder. "But if you don't mind, I'd kind of rather go kill some deer. Later!"
And then he moved to walk away.

"Oh, yeah?" he snarled, trying to simultaneously untwist his wrist and shove her backward with surprising force. "And you're, what, gonna kill me?"
no subject
Her smile wasn't very friendly, either. "You wouldn't be the first," she purred, calling in another knife to her other hand and moving to press the flat of the blade against his ribs in a silent promise. "You wouldn't even be in the first hundred."
"You really wanna start this dance, sugar?"
no subject
Hey, his posture might not be right, but he had all the brute force of a grey monster.

"I take that back," she said, still laughing. "Perhaps you're the kitten; you're certainly shaggy and ackward enough to be one."

Topher scrambled out of the way of her kick, though that required far more movement than it would have for someone who was actually, you know, graceful. Then he let loose an actual growl, and reached over to try to pull her hair.
Topher... pretty much knew how to catfight.
no subject
"A female kitten," she snarled, wincing at the pain. "You fight like a child."
She turned in towards him, stabbing a knife towards his elbow. Let's see you hold her hair now, boy.

Some healer would help him recover. Eventually. But Surreal didn't want tainted blood anywhere near her nose or mouth.

"Okay," he growled. "You asked for it."
And he dove forward with the intention of tackling her to the ground. The time for being afraid of girl-cooties was past -- now he was pissed.
[[No prob, take your time!]]

She was still trying to keep the blood from her face, so Surreal wasn't as fast as she usually was. Topher clipped her on the side and down she went, but brought up her knees to hopefully crack him in the rips and toss him over her.

He growled, spitting and hissing, and got to his feet surprisingly quickly, then knelt down and tried to pummel Surreal in the face.

His fists made contact twice before she was rolling away, coming to her knees to flick a throwing knife from her wrist-sheathe right at his eyes.

And that was the squelching sound of a blade puncturing an eye. Momentarily blinded in one eye, Topher threw up a hand to the wound and lumbered forward, getting more grey-monster and less human by the second.
"Bitch!" he yelled.
Right. That was a bit of both, to be honest.

Normally she would be back at the clinic complaining VERY LOUDLY to be fixed, but her mind was also starting to transform faster now, as if it was catching up to the rest of her, and Momoko was feeling less disgusted with the changes she was going through as time went on. And more and more she wanted to EAT. Which wouldn't be all that unusual except for what she was eating. And how she was getting that food.
It terrified her that, even in her not-monster-y moments, she was enjoying the rush that the hunting and killing was giving her.
