Fast Eddie's- Thursday night

It had been a while since Jaina had been here, so she was going into this knowing that she was going to be rusty and was likely to get her ass kicked. It was good to know that beforehand. It didn't mean she wouldn't end up being competitive, because she knew herself, but it would take away some of the fun if she wasn't anyway. She wondered if Eric would be able to tell if she decided to cheat at all.

As she picked a cue stick (yes, a short one) from the wall, she had to check, "Before we get started, are you sure you wouldn't rather be bowling?"


[For he whom she is there with. Like how I both use 'whom' and end on a preposition?]

"I'm very certain I'd rather not be bowling," Eric said, looking for a pool cue long enough for him.

Not dirty.

"Is it the one thing you're bad at or something?" she wondered, finding the chalk.

"I'm not bad at it," Eric said, sounding aggrieved. "I just don't see why I have to wear other people's shoes to play. And if you've ever seen the people that hang around a Shreveport bowling alley, you wouldn't wonder why I don't go there."

"I wish you'd agreed with me there," Jaina decided, considering him. "Now I'm going to be wondering what it is you are bad at."

"Knitting," Eric said.

[solo_sword]

She arched an eyebrow. "Have you actually tried it?"

[texted3times]

"Well, no," he said. "Have you?"

[solo_sword]

"Of course not," she said gesturing to ask if he wanted to break. "But it's cheating to say you're bad at it when you don't know."

Eric leaned over the table and broke smoothly, several balls shooting into holes. "I think I'm stripes," he said.

Jaina frowned at the table. "So I don't have to question if you're any good at breaking..."

"It's the entering without permission that I have problems with," he teased.

[solo_sword]

"Well played. And I'm so glad I have no problem at all there," she said with a little grin.

"Punning used to be the highest form of comedy," Eric said. "I miss those days."

[solo_sword]

"You mean you didn't manage to bring it back single-handedly with Fangtasia?" That still killed her.

"I did my best," Eric replied. His next shot missed by inches and he waved his hand at Jaina. "Your turn."

"I was sure you were going to clear the table," she admitted, eying the table for a good angle.

"Then it would just be me playing pool and that's hardly fun for you, barring extended time to stare at my ass," Eric replied.

By the lopsided smile on her face at that, it might be obvious that was totally part of the draw here. Look, she had eyes. No one would be able to blame her.

"I was watching the game," she said anyway, leaning to shoot one of the solid balls into a hole.

And Eric returned the favor by checking out her chest as she leaned. It was a least half the reason to watch pool.

"I feel so used," he lied.

"You like it," she grinned, lining up her next shot.

"Maybe a little bit," he said. "Is this the part where I offer to fix your stance?"

[solo_sword]

"I guess that would depend on whether or not you want to stop looking down my shirt long enough for that," she replied.

"Maybe I can multitask," Eric tried.

[solo_sword]

Jaina tried to look nonplussed. "Think that's gonna work out for you?"

"Depends how charming you find me," Eric decided.
