Jack was behind the bar, where he had proudly put up his very own sign: HALF PRICE DRINKS IF IT'S YOUR LAST WEEK ON THE ISLAND.

Hopefully no one would take him up on it!

Tiny was not getting involved, but he would tattle to Eric if they took too hard a dip into the profits and that would be coming out of Jack's salary and not his, thank you so much

Sookie's drink was, indeed, half off. Unfortunately, she was still only eighteen, so it was a Shirley Temple.

Sigh.

Jessica had wandered over to the Devil's Nest at sundown for lack of anything else to do. "Sookie!" she exclaimed when she saw her there. "I've been wantin' to talk to you!"

"You have?" Sookie asked, instantly a little concerned. "Is it 'cause I'm leaving?"

"That's part of it," Jessica said, frowning. She liked having a Sookie who was her age around. "But that's not all. I know our worlds are way different and all, but I guess I wanted to warn you about somethin' that happened in mine."

"Jesus, what did Bill do now?" Sookie asked, frowning.

Look, there was a precedent.

"Oh! Nothing, I think," Jessica said. She still wasn't clear how Bill had been named king, since he hadn't exactly gone into detail with her when she asked what had happened to Sophie-Anne. "He's just...he's King of Louisiana now. So I'm a princess."

"Wait, what?" Sookie asked, eyes wide. "He's the king? What about the queen?"

She wasn't touching the princess thing.

"I asked Bill where Sophie-Anne went, and he said" -- Jessica started to do a decent Bill impersonation -- "she is no longer queen, and the whys are unimportant."

She shrugged. "He's got a bunch of humans workin' for him now as security. They're all dressed in black and carrying rifles and 'nobody gets in without the king's permission.'"

Where you can dance the night away to Great Big Sea.

Shh, Jack likes them.

Where Eric's opinion of Great Big Sea is a mystery.

Eric was willing to be convinced on their merits. Right now he was busy playing Angry Birds in between texting Pam about Jessica's news about how Bill had become king in her universe.

The keysmashing was epic.

"I leave tonight," Sookie greeted him, wandering over. She wasn't saying it sadly, just matter-of-fact, since she was sure he would be that way about it, too.

Eric didn't look overly concerned, but he did put his phone away, which didn't happen often. "Straight to Bon Temps?"

"Yep. Orientation for school is next week," Sookie told him, nodding briskly.

"Did you have to fill out a roommate survey like Emma?" Eric asked. "I'd be happy to serve as a character reference."

Because nothing says "let's be friends" like "Hi, I know a thousand-year old Viking vampire."

"I'm living at home, mister," Sookie said, shaking her head. "So no, as much fun as that'd be for you."

"So will that include more or fewer pillow fights and slumber parties?" Eric replied.

"More, but you're not invited," Sookie assured him.

"But I look amazing in a negligee!"

Get that mental image out of your head.

...of course I didn't get distracted and wander away before the OCD was finished.
