The Devil's Nest, Tuesday Evening
Since it was Emma's last shift, the DJ was being nice and playing actual dance-club music, instead of polka or anything cruel, and Tiny had whipped up virgin margaritas.
The Devil's Nest was open, and Emma was planning on enjoying her last shift as Queen Bee.

"So when is your very last day on the island, anyhow?" he asked, trying for nonchalance and missing. "I'll leave very late Sunday. Couldn't resist one last bar shift with all the fresh blood."

Re: Emma's Station
He was too proud to invite himself to tag along to New York for a day or two, but: "We should have lunch or dinner that day. It's my last one at the law office."
Re: Emma's Station
"But that sounds lovely. Shall I take a break from my packing to bring you a picnic lunch?"
Re: Emma's Station
He shook it off. "... and on that note, yes, I should like a picnic. In the office, or should I shut up shop for a few hours?"
Re: Emma's Station
And, by implication, where she slept later.
Re: Emma's Station
"The spot on the beach where we had the picnic before I left last summer," Jack said, nostalgic. "It's lovely, and nothing will happen in the law office anyhow."

"Does this mean you're going to come keep me company at 'Dite's tomorrow, too?"

VIP Area
Re: VIP Area
After finishing his drink, he wandered over and handed it to her.
Being the practical sort, it was a college gift basket of what Eric considered to be the essentials: ear plugs, air fresheners, condoms, a bottle opener, an absolutely deadly (but small) knife, a number for a colleague of his involved in crossing borders quietly, and Eric's private cell phone number.
Re: VIP Area
"This, I am going to have to have someone show me how to use properly," she commented, holding up the knife. "I know the pointy end goes in the other person, but they taught us fencing at my old school, not stabbing."
Re: VIP Area
Eric knew a lot of really useful things!
Re: VIP Area
"This is why you're the best boss," she said with relish, slipping it back into her package. "Who else will give me weapons, condoms, and shady contacts?"
Yes, Eric, you were shady too.
"...well, Karla might give me condoms, just because that's what you get somebody when you work at 'Dite's."
Re: VIP Area
Eric didn't really enjoy those nights, obviously.

Business and Education, with a minor in Psych. It was what all aspiring World Leaders should know.

Re: VIP Area
"However, you are correct. I'd be more inclined to leave people like that with a compulsion to lick strangers than give them the time of day."
Re: VIP Area
Because of course Eric made Pam deal with them.

Re: VIP Area
Just because she had investments stashed away didn't mean she was willing to touch them. "And of course I have to go back to practically the birth of the internet. No online shopping for books, and no texting."
Re: VIP Area
He thought he was funny.
Re: VIP Area
But Kate was here, and even if that was just because it was Emma's last shift, she eventually drifted her way to the velvet rope, and gave Eric a little wave.
