Last night had been Emma's last shift at Devil's Nest, and now here she was today, manning the counter at 'Dite's. And since it was her last day, well, she decided to have some fun with it and put a sign in the window to pull in prospective customers.

Jack had promised to visit Emma at the store, and it was a promise he was more than happy to keep. He brought a book -- a clean one, thank you very much, Emma -- and found a comfortable place to loiter without looking like a creep, occasionally glancing up from his reading to smile at her.

It was nice, just being there.
