Fast Eddie's, Monday after classes
Okay, for anyone who knew Bruce - who really knew Bruce rather than the friendly facade he put on - the fact that he tried to convince somebody to take a couple hours having fun probably sounded ridiculous and insane. Until maybe they found out he was talking to a girl and that he was referring to spending time with him. That probably sounded more like Bruce.
But that was why he was at Fast Eddie's this afternoon, taking practice shots at a pool table while he waited. He hadn't actually played pool in a while, so he figured he'd shake off any potential rust first. Not that there was much rust, since pool was nothing but geometry, physics, and hitting things with a stick, which were all things Bruce used in his daily life even without playing pool anyway.
He wasn't trying any trick shots, though. That would be showing off.
[OOC: Bruce is here primarily for that girl that he talked about doing this thing with. Fast Eddie's is here for other people to play certain games involving balls and hitting things.]

wayrougher than necessary spar the other night, but Jocelyn had used an iratze or two to take care of the damage so instead of bruises and a majorly injured wrist, she had a few more silvery scars on her chest. She'd come to Fast Eddies dressed more casually than the usual prep school uniform of a plaid skirt and blouse she wore to classes and was looking forward to the proposed 'fun.'
"You weren't kidding about playing well, huh," she said lightly, giving him a smile as she approached the table.

not dirty... they barely know each other. "But that's an entirely different issue."Once the balls were neatly racked, Bruce stepped away from the table and said, "Ladies first. Let's see how good you are."

Jocelyn stepped up, feeling at home with the challenge. "At least you'll see how well I break."
The break was well-done if nothing exceptional and a striped ball found its way to the pocket. "Acceptable?" she checked.

"I never kid about games," Jocelyn replied, glancing over at him as she teased him. She set up another shot and missed the pocket by a few centimeters. Making a face, she stood back and asked lightly, "that the last time I get to shoot?"

He spotted a good shot on the two ball and started to line it up. "You're fairly new to the school, right? I don't remember you being around before I took off for half the summer."
no subject
"Just the summer," she agreed, moving to be able to watch his shot from a better angle. "I kept mostly to myself all summer. Until I got lectured about 'making the most of my opportunities' the other week. So you're not newish anymore?"

Bruce sank the two ball easily and started to look for his next shot. A striped ball was in the way of another solid, so he'd have to bounce his shot off the rail across the table first. But nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? "I've been here a couple years now. It still doesn't seem that long, though. Time flies."
His aim off the rail was a little off and he ended up tapping the stripped ball away from the pocket. So at least it wasn't a disaster. "Your turn."

Jocelyn wrinkled her nose as her ball got knocked back. "You know. That shot could've helped someone at least," she said lightly, deciding to change angles and move behind him to shoot the same striped ball into a different pocket.

Which had her rotating her left wrist as she leaned down to set up the shot and reminded herself just how badly she'd underestimated that Cara.

"Sounds like good advice," Jocelyn admitted. She glanced towards him. "I'm glad I'm getting to know people." Taking the shot, Jocelyn shook her head as it went wide and knocked a solid ball into a pocket. "Have a free ball."
