Fast Eddie's, Monday after classes

Okay, for anyone who knew Bruce - who really knew Bruce rather than the friendly facade he put on - the fact that he tried to convince somebody to take a couple hours having fun probably sounded ridiculous and insane. Until maybe they found out he was talking to a girl and that he was referring to spending time with him. That probably sounded more like Bruce.

But that was why he was at Fast Eddie's this afternoon, taking practice shots at a pool table while he waited. He hadn't actually played pool in a while, so he figured he'd shake off any potential rust first. Not that there was much rust, since pool was nothing but geometry, physics, and hitting things with a stick, which were all things Bruce used in his daily life even without playing pool anyway.

He wasn't trying any trick shots, though. That would be showing off.

[OOC: Bruce is here primarily for that girl that he talked about doing this thing with. Fast Eddie's is here for other people to play certain games involving balls and hitting things.]

There might have been a way rougher than necessary spar the other night, but Jocelyn had used an iratze or two to take care of the damage so instead of bruises and a majorly injured wrist, she had a few more silvery scars on her chest.

She'd come to Fast Eddies dressed more casually than the usual prep school uniform of a plaid skirt and blouse she wore to classes and was looking forward to the proposed 'fun.'

"You weren't kidding about playing well, huh," she said lightly, giving him a smile as she approached the table.

"Games are too serious for it?" Jocelyn asked, amused at the comment. "I know enough not to scratch at least." She knew a little more, but come on, cute boy offering to teach her.

"If I ever meet someone who brags about skill at miniature golf, I'm turning around instantly," Jocelyn decided, taking the cue and checking it to make sure it was still in good condition. "People have to have better hobbies than hitting balls at miniature clowns."

"Then they should take it out on actual miniature clowns and not plaster ones," she pointed out, standing back to let him work with the very clean balls.

Jocelyn stepped up, feeling at home with the challenge. "At least you'll see how well I break."

The break was well-done if nothing exceptional and a striped ball found its way to the pocket. "Acceptable?" she checked.

Games weren't important enough to have a high bar for. There was fighting and there was painting. Those were the things that counted.

"I never kid about games," Jocelyn replied, glancing over at him as she teased him. She set up another shot and missed the pocket by a few centimeters. Making a face, she stood back and asked lightly, "that the last time I get to shoot?"

Didn't people think he was a lunatic anyway?

"Just the summer," she agreed, moving to be able to watch his shot from a better angle. "I kept mostly to myself all summer. Until I got lectured about 'making the most of my opportunities' the other week. So you're not newish anymore?"

"I hope so," she admitted. "Got any advice for it?

Jocelyn wrinkled her nose as her ball got knocked back. "You know. That shot could've helped someone at least," she said lightly, deciding to change angles and move behind him to shoot the same striped ball into a different pocket.

"Thank you then," she said, flashing him a grin. She studied the table for another shot, moving around it again. "It's still plenty confusing if you don't." Speaking for herself at least. "Nothing reacts the way you think it will."

Which had her rotating her left wrist as she leaned down to set up the shot and reminded herself just how badly she'd underestimated that Cara.

On the flip side, embarrassment would require someone to not be completely convinced of their superiority.

"Sounds like good advice," Jocelyn admitted. She glanced towards him. "I'm glad I'm getting to know people." Taking the shot, Jocelyn shook her head as it went wide and knocked a solid ball into a pocket. "Have a free ball."

She laughed, rolling her eyes at herself. "Only one freebie," she teased. "Even if it's an easy way of getting to know someone." Jocelyn nodded agreement, twirling the cue easily. "And if we run into vampires, we already have the stakes."

"That's pretty normal for my world," Jocelyn admitted. "If vampires feed from humans, we get to hunt them. It's the Law." She smiled. "And I've met Caroline, but I don't know of any others."

"Awww, my hero," she teased at the gift of a ball. Not dirty. "Yeah, I knew there was a Downworld. Unlike my roommate." She loked over at him. "What about you? When you came here?"

"Not psychotic just flexible?" Jocelyn asked, her lips curving into a smile.
