Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, The Park, Friday Afternoon

The day had dawned crisp and clear, but by the time afternoon had rolled around... it was really still kind of ridiculously warm for fall. People could probably get away with not wearing a sweater, even.

Which made rather good weather for a picnic, convenient since that was the traditional way of kicking off the Fandom High Parents' (and assorted other relatives, friends, acquaintances, or sometimes even enemies, but that was harder to fit nicely on a banner) Weekend. So there were rows of picnic tables decked out in blue and yellow, laid out with just about any sort of foodstuff one could imagine. And just in case there was any lingering doubt as to the purpose of the picnic, a glittery banner (Petra's work, naturally) adorned the registration tables:

Greg picked up a nametag - it was the correct thing to do after all - and placed it carefully where it went. Then he went to look for Kate. She might take some finding.

Greg wasn't precisely mingling, more carefully observing everyone and everything.

Eve picked up her nametag, put it on, and promptly had a moment of just how weird it was to be on this side for once.

Eve was attempting to mingle, moving through the crowd in search of anybody she knew -- not students, so much, but definitely some of the visitors.

So, this was Fandom. Alisha hadn't really known what to expect, since Simon hadn't exactly been too descriptive. Also, he didn't know she was coming. So there was that, too.

Alisha affixed a nametag to her shirt before going to take a look around. This was going to be interesting.

Henry was a bit distracted at everything around him. He had heard and seen some weird things about this place from Jack and was looking forward to trying to figure them out.

And to see Jack, of course.

Devra remembered the routine from the last time she'd come; her nametag was now firmly affixed.

Clayton had managed to dodge his mother -- really, he didn't need supervision all the time, just when he was making mistakes like tangling with Shira and getting tossed into nearby bodies of water.

He snagged his nametag, put it on, and wandered off to mingle.

Ranon wasn't terribly interested in his nametag, but he put it on anyway. He didn't see the point of it -- the only people he wanted to see this weekend knew who he was and what he looked like.

But the nametag was apparently required, so on it went.

Robby Ray took a nametag and printed his name neatly on it, casting a concerned eye toward the security area. Hey, you get to be your famous pop star daughter's manager, you wind up a little skeptical of security guards. If only Roxy could come to school with her...

Unless you had an eye for that sort of thing it would have been very difficult for one to tell the pretty teenage girl in the cheerleading uniform was actually a three thousand year old monster who liked to seduce and drink the blood of men for fun. Kelli had spent the last few months in various high school settings helping capture recruit demigods for Luke so she looked quite at home in Fandom.

Kelli signed her nametag in an overly feminine swirly script and dotted the "i" in her name with a heart before carefully placing it on her uniform. Now to find and surprise Luke.

Miley had mentioned the names of a few people she'd gotten to be fairly close with here at Fandom, but Robby Ray was just looking for his daughter.

And Jackson. Where had that boy gotten off to?

Jackson just wrote "Jackson" on his nametag, not bothering with his last name. The fewer connections he had to Miley, the better.

Alisha wasn't really mingling. She was weaving her way through the crowd, careful not to touch anyone, and keeping an eye out for any familiar faces.

Primarily Simon, of course, but she was also aware there was another Nathan around, somehow. What an utterly mindboggling fucking concept.

Ooh. Pretty girls.

Pretty girls who didn't know about his strikeout rate. Even better.

Moz was very careful to select a boring, nondescript name for his own nametag. He affixed it on his shirt just awkwardly enough that another person would have to lean in and squint to see the name. Perfect.

The best thing about having a name with an "i" in it was that Lilly could dot it with as big a heart as she wanted, thank you very much, and that was exactly what she did. In purple gel pen, no less.

Now, to find Miley.

Re: Mingling! [PW1]

[identity profile] moz-not-mozart.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Moz shied away from the bulk of the crowd, naturally, but he did not linger so far as to appear as if he were actually avoiding it. He took a seat on a bench and casually unfolded the newspaper he had brought, discretely observing the other picnic-goers.

He had a bet going as to whether or not Neal would beat his personal time at finding him.

First of all, there were cute boys all over the place, and Lilly was so all over that. She'd have to hear from Miley if any of them were taken before she got all flirty with them. Which meant that Miley was Priority #1, if only because Lilly had a seriously underused best friend hug that she was just waiting to give.

Ranon wasn't mingling so much as he was searching out a few very specific people.

He wasn't good with this whole socialization thing sometimes.
