Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, The Park, Friday Afternoon

The day had dawned crisp and clear, but by the time afternoon had rolled around... it was really still kind of ridiculously warm for fall. People could probably get away with not wearing a sweater, even.

Which made rather good weather for a picnic, convenient since that was the traditional way of kicking off the Fandom High Parents' (and assorted other relatives, friends, acquaintances, or sometimes even enemies, but that was harder to fit nicely on a banner) Weekend. So there were rows of picnic tables decked out in blue and yellow, laid out with just about any sort of foodstuff one could imagine. And just in case there was any lingering doubt as to the purpose of the picnic, a glittery banner (Petra's work, naturally) adorned the registration tables:

Greg picked up a nametag - it was the correct thing to do after all - and placed it carefully where it went. Then he went to look for Kate. She might take some finding.

So, this was Fandom. Alisha hadn't really known what to expect, since Simon hadn't exactly been too descriptive. Also, he didn't know she was coming. So there was that, too.

Alisha affixed a nametag to her shirt before going to take a look around. This was going to be interesting.

Henry was a bit distracted at everything around him. He had heard and seen some weird things about this place from Jack and was looking forward to trying to figure them out.

Clayton had managed to dodge his mother -- really, he didn't need supervision all the time, just when he was making mistakes like tangling with Shira and getting tossed into nearby bodies of water.

He snagged his nametag, put it on, and wandered off to mingle.

Ranon wasn't terribly interested in his nametag, but he put it on anyway. He didn't see the point of it -- the only people he wanted to see this weekend knew who he was and what he looked like.

But the nametag was apparently required, so on it went.

Robby Ray took a nametag and printed his name neatly on it, casting a concerned eye toward the security area. Hey, you get to be your famous pop star daughter's manager, you wind up a little skeptical of security guards. If only Roxy could come to school with her...

Unless you had an eye for that sort of thing it would have been very difficult for one to tell the pretty teenage girl in the cheerleading uniform was actually a three thousand year old monster who liked to seduce and drink the blood of men for fun. Kelli had spent the last few months in various high school settings helping capture recruit demigods for Luke so she looked quite at home in Fandom.

Kelli signed her nametag in an overly feminine swirly script and dotted the "i" in her name with a heart before carefully placing it on her uniform. Now to find and surprise Luke.

Jackson just wrote "Jackson" on his nametag, not bothering with his last name. The fewer connections he had to Miley, the better.

Moz was very careful to select a boring, nondescript name for his own nametag. He affixed it on his shirt just awkwardly enough that another person would have to lean in and squint to see the name. Perfect.

The best thing about having a name with an "i" in it was that Lilly could dot it with as big a heart as she wanted, thank you very much, and that was exactly what she did. In purple gel pen, no less.

Now, to find Miley.

Lila and Barron had showed up together. Cassel would hate it, but her father insisted she had a guardian and since Barron was already on his way it was only natural that the ride from Jersey in one car. Lila doubted her father would have insisted on that if he knew Barron was the one that kept her imprisoned as a cat for years.

Whatever, this weekend was about Cassel not his brother slash her ex. She placed the nametag she had been given on her chest and handed Barron his own without saying a word.

Ron actually didn't register. Why bother? Hermione was working in town and he doubted there was anyone here who remembered him.

God, that blasted Fairy and the guy who thought he was his grandfather better not be here.

And yeah, he skipped the name tag as well.

Ramon didn't want to wear the nametags but Frank fussed and frowned at him because it was apparently the rules and Ramon didn't really wanna listen to Frank whine.

"Fine!" he said, slapping the nametag on his chest and glaring at Frank. "Happy now? I look like a fourth grader."

"Look, we don't want someone to think we're not supposed to be here," Frank said, rolling his eyes and putting his own nametag on. "It's not that bad. Let's go find Sam."

Ramon grumbled some more but started heading towards the crowd that was already there.

"Well, Linda!" said Stephen Stotch, smiling happily at his wife as they approached the registration table. "We made it! Let's find our nametags and then find our son! I'm sure he'll have lots to tell us about how school's going for him!"

As Emily and Aria made their way over to the table with the nametags, Emily peered around and took in the island. As she bent over the table to sign her own name, she remarked to Aria, "It's definitely different from home, isn't it?"

If people were staring as he walked up to register, Kilowog didn't seem to notice. He signed in using a green pen that seemed to appear from no where, slapped a name tag on his green lantern uniform and headed for the food.

"Nametags," Theresa muttered, as she picked up the one that read Theresa Wiggin. "This reminds me of my old college mixers."

John Paul smiled a little, reaching past her for his own. "At least they're a little more exuberant than Peter's last school," he said.

Theresa shot him a poisonous look. "I don't want to be here," she said, flatly. "I don't want to see him - unless it's to wring his skinny little neck. Have you read what he published last week? I could--"

"Shhh," he murmured. "We're here to steer Peter back into the right direction. You know it couldn't have gone another way, it..."

"Just stop talking," she said, and put the tag on.

Luke didn't expect anybody this weekend and was relieved about that. Confident that he wouldn't have a god surprising him or Grover trying to kill him this time around, Luke filled a plate with food to pick at and settled down at a table to people watch.
