Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, The Park, Friday Afternoon

The day had dawned crisp and clear, but by the time afternoon had rolled around... it was really still kind of ridiculously warm for fall. People could probably get away with not wearing a sweater, even.

Which made rather good weather for a picnic, convenient since that was the traditional way of kicking off the Fandom High Parents' (and assorted other relatives, friends, acquaintances, or sometimes even enemies, but that was harder to fit nicely on a banner) Weekend. So there were rows of picnic tables decked out in blue and yellow, laid out with just about any sort of foodstuff one could imagine. And just in case there was any lingering doubt as to the purpose of the picnic, a glittery banner (Petra's work, naturally) adorned the registration tables:

"Hanna!" Aria waved as she weaved her way through the crowds towards her friend.

Barely even a real hello and she started with a good-natured, "Were there a few things you were meaning to tell us?" Like maybe 'this place is nuts', 'there are people who carry swords' and 'people are red sometimes'.

"And spoil the surprise?" Hanna grinned, leaning closer for a hug. "This place is different, but it's cool."

"It might've saved me from boggling at some poor strangely colored guy," she argued, even though it probably wouldn't have, because it was unlikely she'd have believed it. But still.

"Does that mean you like it here?"

"Some of the people here are different, but they are awesome, too," Hanna said, thinking of her roommate especially. "I do. It's been...quiet."

She had not heard from 'A.' Therefore, Fandom was her favorite place ever.

"... Quiet quiet?" Aria checked, glancing to one side as if expecting someone to be watching. It was one habit she probably wouldn't be able to shake until she was sure they were free of A's creepy ways.

Hanna nodded. "Yeah, guess you know who doesn't have eyes everywhere. Have you heard from she/he/it/whatever?"

Aria shrugged, "Not in the last couple of hours?' she offered. "But in general? He/she/it is not... gone." Unfortunately.

Hanna frowned. "I'm sorry. Thought things would get better. But...let's try to have fun this weekend, okay? Take our mind off things."

It was possible to do that, right?

"Exactly what I'm planning on doing," Aria agreed. No thinking too hard about what A may or may not be planning for them. They could definitely do that. "This is like a holiday. Not the time for that."

"So is there anyone important for us to meet?"
