Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, The Park, Friday Afternoon

The day had dawned crisp and clear, but by the time afternoon had rolled around... it was really still kind of ridiculously warm for fall. People could probably get away with not wearing a sweater, even.

Which made rather good weather for a picnic, convenient since that was the traditional way of kicking off the Fandom High Parents' (and assorted other relatives, friends, acquaintances, or sometimes even enemies, but that was harder to fit nicely on a banner) Weekend. So there were rows of picnic tables decked out in blue and yellow, laid out with just about any sort of foodstuff one could imagine. And just in case there was any lingering doubt as to the purpose of the picnic, a glittery banner (Petra's work, naturally) adorned the registration tables:

Oh yes. Totally made it better. Not that Ron bought into that. He lived on this island too, you know.

However this was for a nice visit and one that doesn't happen often. Ron had promised Ginny that he'd be on his best behavior. Which is why he was biting his lip and not trying to start an argument.

"Over the... cliff. Really? Came back completely okay after that, right?" Ron asked trying not to show too much concern.

And failing.

Let's see how long that promise to Ginny lasts, shall we?

"Completely okay," Hermione said firmly, not wanting a fight. At least not right now. "It's just a normal bit of Fandom weirdness that works itself out. You know how it is."

"Oh yeah, I remember," Ron said lightly. "Though the mental trauma sticks around for a while. Hopefully we can make it through the weekend without a gremlin bite."

Oh, Ron. Don't ask for trouble.

Hermione looked at him seriously. "If you just jinxed yourself..."

"What? Aren't you on friendly terms with all those little green things?" Ron asked. "You had a whole petition and everything."

"Yes, but I'd also rather you didn't end up performing Rebecca Black in the park," she said, shuddering a little at the memory. "Maybe I'll leave something shiny out for them, just in case."

"See? Nothing to worry about, " Ron said with a grin. "Just a nice visit."

He paused a bit to look at Herimone. "It is really good to see you. You'd think someone who could apparate anywhere he wants could visit more often but between helping out at the store and Auror training it's a bit difficult."

"I know what the hours are like," Hermione said with a little smile. "It won't last forever. And I've already visited more than I was able to in my last year at Hogwarts."

"I know," Ron said returning the grin. "Still. I'm greedy."

He then paused to look around.

"So is that madman in the red pajamas still working here?"

"He's the one who sang in the park," she nodded. "He demanded I get him coffee my first day here."

"Should have snuck some of George's pranks into it," Ron joked. "That would put a stop to that."

"I just told him no," said Hermione. "Simpler that way."

"Not nearly as fun," Ron said with a grin.
