Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, The Park, Friday Afternoon

The day had dawned crisp and clear, but by the time afternoon had rolled around... it was really still kind of ridiculously warm for fall. People could probably get away with not wearing a sweater, even.

Which made rather good weather for a picnic, convenient since that was the traditional way of kicking off the Fandom High Parents' (and assorted other relatives, friends, acquaintances, or sometimes even enemies, but that was harder to fit nicely on a banner) Weekend. So there were rows of picnic tables decked out in blue and yellow, laid out with just about any sort of foodstuff one could imagine. And just in case there was any lingering doubt as to the purpose of the picnic, a glittery banner (Petra's work, naturally) adorned the registration tables:

Was it this face? Was it? Because this face belonged to someone who had no idea Sookie was coming- or was here, thanks to the fact that she was keeping herself shielded.

But this face was currently enjoying being stuffed with a ridiculous-looking sandwich.

And see, that was just asking for Sookie to sneak up behind him and clasp her hands over his eyes. "Guess who?" she asked, dropping her twang and trying to make her voice a little gruffer. It probably didn't work.

"Hank?" Bobby guessed. Or, well, 'guessed', because he knew full well it couldn't be.

"Noooope," Sookie drawled, and if that didn't give it away, the fact that she was pressing uncomfortably close to his back for the average person was probably a tip-off. "Guess again!"

"You- Sookie? What are you doing here?" Bobby asked, his tone one of pleased surprise.

"Surprising you!" she said, going on her toes to press a kiss behind his ear before removing her hands and bouncing around to his front. "Sam gave me the weekend off and I figured I'd come say hi!"

"Remind me to thank Sam next time I see him," Bobby said. "I'm suitably surprised! And- this is awesome!" he enthused, grabbing her hand and pulling her down so she was sitting next to him.

"I figured I could maybe meet this mysterious Hank of yours," she said, raising her brows. "And see who Eric has coming. I'm a little worried."

"I wouldn't say he's *mysterious*," Bobby countered. "in fact, he's probably kind of conspicuous looking." Because big, blue, and furry stood out even in Fandom.

"Pam?" he guessed. "Or do you think someone else might come?"

heading off for an oh so fun study session, so pings will be slow & via tiny phone internets for a bit.

"I'll keep an eye out, but that's all," she told him regretfully. "I still have homework and can't do it with a headache. And I'm sure Pam's coming, but I'm worried we might see Sophie-Anne, too."

"He's blue and furry. Eyes should be more than enough, trust me."

"Like Cookie Monster," Sookie said with a little smile. "Sorry, I won't make that comparison in his presence."

Bobby snickered. "No, seriously. Go ahead. The face he makes is totally worth it."

Bobby was an awesome friend.

"I want to make friends with your friends," Sookie said, shaking her head. "I wanna make a good impression! I can't do that."

"He's friends with me," Bobby pointed out. "I think you've made a good impression simply by virtue of putting up with me for this long."
