Parents' Weekend Meet & Greet, The Park, Friday Afternoon

The day had dawned crisp and clear, but by the time afternoon had rolled around... it was really still kind of ridiculously warm for fall. People could probably get away with not wearing a sweater, even.

Which made rather good weather for a picnic, convenient since that was the traditional way of kicking off the Fandom High Parents' (and assorted other relatives, friends, acquaintances, or sometimes even enemies, but that was harder to fit nicely on a banner) Weekend. So there were rows of picnic tables decked out in blue and yellow, laid out with just about any sort of foodstuff one could imagine. And just in case there was any lingering doubt as to the purpose of the picnic, a glittery banner (Petra's work, naturally) adorned the registration tables:

"Ha! No, I hardly think so," Flemeth said. The girl's height did not intimidate her, though the dragon did get a considering look. "You are very brave to consort with dragons," she continued, "Or very foolish - though aren't those words one and the same? I often wonder."

"Brave," she corrected with a nod. "But not foolish. I am this dragon's mother. And you are?"

"Flemeth, mother of Witches," she introduced herself, because what harm would it do? "At least for this week's end. Tell me, how does one so young and human foster a dragonling?"

And Dany had no idea what any of that meant, which meant that it was likely safe to give her reply. "In fire, and in place of one's own child. I am the blood of the dragon, myself."

That gained another burst of laughter. "Blood of the dragon?" Flemeth asked. "Which dragon bled to bring you into the world, child?"

She was an interesting find, Flemeth would give her that.

"My family is descended from dragons," Dany said, narrowing her eyes at that. "I'm immune to fire, and my dragons were weaned from my breast. If I'm not of their blood myself, then that hardly seems possible."

"Oh, no, you misunderstand me," Flemeth said, a smirk gracing her lips. "My question is genuine. Though I daresay if dragon blood does run in your veins, it has been thinned by frail men."

"I'm sure it has," Dany agreed. "My family is centuries old, and dragons have been gone for generations. Mine are barely but legend back home."

"Bah! Legend is where gods linger as they rest, no more and no less," she replied. "As your son demonstrates."

She reached one hand out towards Drogon, and only now the long claws on it became visible.

"His name is Drogon," Dany offered, as the tiny dragon eagerly flicked his forked tongue out toward those claws. Dany gave them a curious look. "Are you dragon, too, then?"

"Some legends would say so," Flemeth said. She watched Drogon's tongue moving, and was satisfied. "Of course, some legends maintain that I was spawned from the rock and devour children like yourself for my supper - which do you believe to be true?"

"I am no child, so I'm hardly concerned about either," Dany said, raising a brow. "But I prefer the former."

"Heh."

Flemeth lowered her claw. "Take good care of this one," she said. "Though mind yourself - when you play with dragons, the dragons shall come and play with you, and no matter the blood that might drip in your veins."

She regarded Dany herself. "You are a child," she said, "But I like you."

She hoped Morrigan had plenty of children like this to make her life... challenging.
