Playground in The Park, Then Around Town, Saturday Morning

The signs from Friday and Saturday directing visitors to the beginning of the Student Council island tours remained up, and today they would lead guests to Wesley. He had maps to distribute and what he would consider a wealth of knowledge regarding the island's layout, and he was all too happy to answer any questions guests might have as they began to congregate.

Kilowog studied the map carefully and then levelled a look at the guide.

"We're stopping off at that muffin place, right?" he asked gruffly.

Kilowog might have gotten an addiction to J'GoB.

"Yes, we'll be passing by there," Wesley assured him with a slight smile. "You're welcome to stop inside and pick something up. The scones are excellent."

Of course they were.

Henry was there finally to see if he could get any more in depth explanation on how the entire island works.

Wesley cleared his throat, surveying the group ~~assuming there was one~~. "Welcome," he greeted them. "My name is Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. I'm one of the senior class student council representatives, and I'm here today to offer you a unique tour of Fandom Island. I'm from Southern Hampshire, England, and I've been on the island for nearly a year and a half now, so I feel I should be able to address any questions you may have."

Of course you did, Wes.

"Let's begin, shall we?"

"We'll begin along Apocalypse Avenue," he began, walking backwards and gesturing to the businesses that lined the street. "Which, to the best of my knowledge, does not appear to have been named after anything of concern," he added. "We'll be passing a number of shops and small businesses along the way, including the clinic, a wonderful gallery, the local occult shop, a café, and a local, er, hangout."

Vagueness was your friend.

"Just down there are some local apartment complexes for school faculty and town residents unaffiliated with the school, and as you can see, there's a lovely view of the beach from this corner if you'd like to stop and take a photograph."

Continuing along Thunderbird Lane to Galactica Drive, Wesley continued, "This area of town is a bit less commercial, though I assure you it's still quite safe." Sure it was, Wes. "We'll be passing the local firehouse in just a moment, along with a public stables for adults and students choosing not to board their horses up at the school."

"This area brings us back to quite a few other small businesses," Wesley continued, "including a sushi restaurant, a, er, chain steakhouse, and a series of other restaurants offering a variety of cuisines. We students generally find them to be a, shall I say, refreshing alternative to the food offered in the school cafeteria."

Upon reaching the north tip of Jones Parkway, Wesley gestured for the group to turn around. "We'll now take the boardwalk back in the direction of the school," he announced.

"And here we have the school," Wesley announced, sweeping his arms out in an entirely dramatic fashion toward the school lawn and various buildings. "This is the main building, of course, and just there are the dormitories. Students store any weapons they had upon arrival in that equipment shed, and are free to practice over there in the shooting range and the salle, where safety regulations are strictly enforced. Finally, just there are the school-provided stables, a cost-saving alternative to using the stable in town."

"And here we have the Preserve," Wesley went on, indicating the large wooded area that the guests might have noticed. "We won't go inside, as I'm sure you'd like to return to your hosts in a timely manner, but it's a spot containing cabins where students, er, used to spend the summer semester. In addition, it's home to a number of protected animals."

"Can you tell me about any of the endangered animals here on the island?" Henry asked with a tilt of his head.

"Well, there are quite a few," Wesley answered, evidently pleased to have the opportunity to show off. "Teal deer, not to mention alots... and all evidence suggests that the squirrels found here are quite unusual for this region."

Because they could write notes in English, see.

"Yes, I had a run-in with the squirrels this morning," Henry noted. "Is fandom doing anything to help protect their alcohol intake? All that rum can't be good for their livers, I'd imagine."

"I'm sure all measures are being taken to ensure their well-being," Wesley assured him.

He had no idea.

"And what exactly are those measures?" Henry asked. "It's not like there's a twelve step program for the Sciuridae family."

"I'm not as familiar with this topic as I ought to be," Wesley admitted. "But it's my impression that the island's, er, human residents are discouraged from giving the squirels any sort of alcohol for any reason."

"And coming up on the end of the tour, you'll note many of the newer shops that have been added to the island, so repeat visitors, you may not remember these from prior trips. You'll remember the community center from last night's recital, of course, and there's also a bookstore, a bank, a technology center, a record store, various restaurants, and of course our local trooper station."

"And now we've returned to the park," Wesley concluded. "I hope you've found this tour helpful, and please do not hesitate to remain afterwards to ask me any questions you may have. Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your stay!"
