Devil's Nest [Monday night]

With Jack handing out candy at his residence, Eric took it upon himself to open the Devil's Nest tonight. After all, with a name like "Devil's Nest" not being open for Halloween was probably illegal by island ordinance.

...which reminded Eric to check, just in case.

The club had been dressed to the nines with fake cobwebs and plastic spiders, skeletons in the corners, and other marks of the season.

Eric, after being sure that Tiny wouldn't be making any of the drinks that Sandra Lee had featured in her special (so he'd watched. Shut up), took himself and his swooping cape to his usual corner in the VIP section and drank True Blood with his fangs extended.

It was Halloween. Appearances must be maintained.

[OOC: OCD free today!]

Kate had been angsting over missing Halloween in Fandom yet again, especially now that she wasn't even a cat. So, when an offer of a roundtrip of portals to spend part of the evening in Fandom practically fell in her lap, what was there to do but hop between dimensions?

She figured she'd catch up with Bod later, but since she couldn't really crash the dorms, she took to the town, and ended up at the Devil's Nest. In honor of her status as a Kansan girl who'd been swept up in a world of crazy, she was dressed up as Dorothy. Except her ruby slippers were actually heels because this was Kate. She liked heels when she was dressing up, dammit.

"Are the drinking rules as strict as ever?" she called out by way of greeting, waving at Eric from beyond the velvet rope. Right before tilting her head quizzically. "... Are you wearing a cape?"
vanillajello: (So I hear you say.)

Kate snorted. "God, I can't even remember the last time I thought vampires should wear capes and maybe, like, talk with a vaguely eastern European accent," she said. The stereotype in her head had transformed into something completely different a long time ago. "It looks good, though."

That might have been a lie. But only kind of.
vanillajello: (Maybe I disagree.)

"Well, not that it'll console her much, but it's not Halloween everywhere right now," Kate informed him. "Like, say, where I'm from. We still have to wait another whole month."
vanillajello: (Thinkyface.)

"Halloween." A beat. "Okay, mostly it was just a whim and an insanely cheap Portalocity deal. Also, I wanted to try and reap some benefits from the fact that tomorrow is my second eighteenth birthday this year."

Yeah.
vanillajello: (Rolling of the eyes.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-01 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"I didn't," she replied, rolling her eyes. At the multiverse. "Where I'm from went out of sync with this... universe, a couple of months back. So, October first went by a month ago here, but back home it's tomorrow. Hence, two birthdays."

vanillajello: (My smile your idiocy.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-01 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course." Because who wouldn't have? "But, sadly, I think most Fandomites only observe the Fandom calendar, and I could exactly tell my family about the multiversal time fuck-up."
vanillajello: (Smirk.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-01 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, that depends," Kate smirked. "Is it going to have booze in it?"

Because that was the most important question!
vanillajello: (Do keep talking.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-01 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, then I'll take my chances," she decided with a pleased grin. Because 'perhaps' was still better than a straight up 'no'. "Mix me a drink, Eric."
vanillajello: (You're funny and sadly wrong.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-02 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
Kate took the glass, then took a tentative little sip.

Then she wrinkled her nose and laughed. "Oh yeah, there's definitely booze in this. Thank you."
vanillajello: (God's honest truth.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-02 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, I am," Kate replied, then held up a finger. "But only on tropical islands, and Fandom is not one. Which begs the question... why the fuck am I celebrating a holiday on Fandom?"

No, actually the answer to that was quite obvious and simple, so really, she was joking.
vanillajello: (So I hear you say.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-02 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Something like that," Kate agreed with a stray touch of wryness, over her glass. "Although I have to have some love for the wannabes just for them not having any real ability to scare the shit out of me. Fandom taught me to appreciate that."
vanillajello: (Easy days easier words.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-02 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Kate snorted. "Please, do I look like someone who can be intimidated by some random meta for Edward wannabe?" she scoffed. "Mocking the lisp's the best part!"
vanillajello: (Do keep talking.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-02 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh but they do if they're created by Mormons," Kate retorted cheerfully. "You just be glad I'm not self-destructive enough to ever try throwing a tub of glitter at you."

She would, however, not hesitate to do that to Mitchell if the mood struck her.
vanillajello: (Uh okay I'm not sure.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-02 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mitchell can't be captured in photographs, though," Kate pointed out, with a sad little pout. "... Wait, does that mean you can?"
vanillajello: (Pleasantly surprised.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-02 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really?" If she sounded a little gleeful over this revelation, well, fuck, it was Halloween and she was allowed to. "Is it bad?"
vanillajello: (Smiling sideways.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-02 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Kate laughed. "Well, mine's not that great either," she shared. "I think that must be some sort of a rule. Like, no one's allowed to look their best in a photo like that."
vanillajello: (Like a spring day.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-11-02 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"I say let them have it," Kate decided with a little raise of her glass. "I mean, whenever you need to show that thing to anyone, you're usually standing right there, right? So, it shouldn't really matter if your ID picture is shitty when proof of hotness is right there in the flesh."
