Cafe Luke's, Monday

Vincent had managed to turn most of the Cafe into a giant smorgasbord. Food of nearly every variety imaginable covered most of the tables. He'd gone a bit overboard in seeking out recipes from as many still existing dimensions as possible in an attempt to preserve their delicacies before they vanished. He had Romulan ale and cans of Slurm. He had spoo and a brightly colored goop that only existed if you imagined hard enough. He had some fares more common to modern Earth, too, from seedy crescent rolls and lamb stew with dried plumbs to delicate lemon tarts and sweet plum wine. He even had a roast beast in the oven.

He'd been tempted to order some brontosaurus ribs, but, well, even Cafe Luke's freezer had its storage capacity limits.

Today's specials:
For the love of the multiverse, please come eat something

Luke's was open and OCD free for the day.

"Hey, Vince," Jack said walking into the cafe with Lojack by his side. "I don't suppose with everything back there you might also have banana milkshake?"

If Lexi was around he'd catch hell for that. But right now Jack just needed comfort food.

Lojack propped himself up so that his front paws were on the counter then gave Vincent a friendly bark.

"I think he wants the usual," Jack said with a half-hearted grin.

"Thanks, Vince," he said turning a bit to take in the spread of food available.

"Tell me this isn't leftover from some sort of multi-dimensional Thanksgiving," he jested.

"So you're just doing this for fun?" Jack asked looking amused.

Jack frowned a little. "You know in all my time in Eureka, I don't think I've ever seen you cook this much," he said looking around. "I guess that's saying something."

Especially since the world almost ends once a week.

"Well, I finally got Henry and Allison back home to start looking for... well nothing," Jack said with a sigh. "Which is hard to do because they don't actually see anything missing."

Billy had never been a gourmet, but the amount of stuff that he was pretty sure did not exist at least on his earth tipped him off to this being something special. The sign helped too.

He was still making an exception to his 'no drinking' personal rule, so he poured himself a generous glass of Romulan Ale. He had no idea what it was, but it smelled alcoholic. Possibly it wouldn't go well with the mac n' cheese and mashed potatoes he put on his plate. Mmm, comfort food and mysterious liquor.

"So, not sure how strong it is then?" Billy guessed.

Ooh! Space booze!

"That's okay, I'm not used to booze in general. Uh, which means I was planning on being careful with this." he assured Vincent.

Oh Billy was fully legal in that regard. He just wasn't a big drinker. "No worries man." Billy assured him. "I'm pretty good at stopping when I reach a stopping point." Which was true as far as it went.

[identity profile] l1ttle-billy.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Rrrright. That was the plan. Oh Billy totally forgave Vincent for sounding dubious. Billy could count the number of times he'd had a drink on one hand. He didn't know his tolerance, but he had in the past been able to at least tell when it was time to stop.

"So, how long has this place been Cafe Lukes?" He remembered it as Luke's Diner.

[identity profile] l1ttle-billy.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Billy dimly wondered if that could have been a side effect of whatever was happening, or even the cause. But he didn't pursue that.

"Seriously? Sounds like it could have been a bit of a shock."

"Do you wake up on strange islands a lot?"

[identity profile] l1ttle-billy.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"That might have been even weirder. You go to sleep in one place, wake up in another." Billy could relate.

[identity profile] l1ttle-billy.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"It grows on you." Billy agreed. He himself had hated the place at first. But soon it was one of the few places he'd be willing to call home.

"I used to go to school here, but I graduated a few years back. Been a while since I've been back."

[identity profile] l1ttle-billy.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Billy nodded and sighed. "Yeah. I can't be sure, but...I think my world is gone."

[identity profile] l1ttle-billy.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
"If this one doesn't do it for me, I'll definitely be going with that plan." Billy nodded.

[identity profile] l1ttle-billy.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
"I know right?" Billy agreed. "Gimme aliens, or Trolls, or something tangible any day."

[identity profile] l1ttle-billy.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh trolls was one of the first things I ever encountered here." Billy said. "Much less scary than what's happening now. I think I might freak about black holes too. Though if the smart people were able to figure it out then maybe not so much."
