Cafe Luke's, Monday

Vincent hadn't actually made any fruitcake yet. So when he turned away from the jukebox to get started opening up the restaurant this morning and found one just . . . lurking there, two little cherries on top like eyes staring up at him, he gave a little shriek and hid behind the counter.

The fruitcake didn't go away. In fact, it seemed to follow Vincent around, from the kitchen to the dining area, even back up to his loft. He never saw it move, it was just . . . there.

Watching.

Today's specials:
No, that's not my fruitcake

Luke's was open.

"Hey, Vincent," Jack said as he entered the cafe carrying his duffel bag. "How are things-"

Jack stopped talking when he was about to sit down and realized there was a fruitcake apparently staring at him.

"Okay. That's weird."

"Yeeeeah," Jack said warily sitting down and keeping an eye on the fruitcake. "That or the penguins. Anyhow, I came by before I headed off for the holidays to give you your Christmas present. Ready for it?"

Jack then turned his head a bit and saw another fruitcake looking at him.

"GAH!"

Jack grinned. "I'm going to let you cook me whatever you want. No restrictions. No holds barred."

He glanced over at the fruitcake.

"Except maybe fruitcake."

Jack couldn't help but chuckle. "Every bite."

Lamb. He could handle lamb. And hummus was like a dip, right? Nothing could go wrong with a dip. And figs were like Fig Newtons. Nothing wrong there.

Jack laughed. "No allergies. Knock yourself out Vince-"

That damn fruitcake was now in front of Jack again.

"G-yaaaah," Jack exclaimed as he pushed it aside. "Sorry, knock youself out, Vincent."

"Let's not insult the magically moving fruitcake," Jack said in a calm tone that he once used with a sentient robot drone.

We all knew how well that worked out, right?

"Sounds great," Jack replied keeping an on eye on the fruitcake just in case it decided to move. "Are you going home for the holidays at all?"

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, at least your experience here will probably be just as weird as whatever is happening back home," Jack said as he continued to stare at the fruitcake. "You could always try portalocity if you're feeling daring. Which I'm not. I'm taking a nice regular plane ride home."

"He's getting the same gift you are," Jack said with a smirk. "That is if you don't mind the whole re-gifting thing. I figure it would work with all multi-dimensional Vincents."

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Vincent!

"Okay, so it's a win-win situation," Jack joked. "Is there anything I can bring you from home? Or at least my version of home?"

Because there is never enough love for Vincent. Even though his cafe gets blown up every week.
