Bod was actually enjoying the chillier weather. It made it feel a little more like home and he'd been missing that feeling lately. He came into work quietly, clearly caught up in his thoughts so the staff let him be after some quick greetings.

He's around if a bit distracted!

So, Kate~~'s player was all 'lol, sleep, what is that?'~~ didn't need to be anywhere before way late the following day, and she'd been feeling the strongest urge to come see Bod for the past day or so, so...

She turned up near the end of his shift, bundled up in a cute coat and her sock monkey hat. "Hullo."

"Hullo there, girlfriend," Bod said, lighting up as soon as he saw her. "This is a pleasant surprise!"

Kate couldn't help smiling a bit at that. "Man, I wish more people would react to me like that," she remarked, as she padded over to the counter. "You are a sight for sore eyes as well, boyfriend."

Bod leaned over the counter towards her, still grinning. "I've missed you. How are you?"

"Kisses first," Kate replied, leaning over the counter to meet him. "Talking later."

Not much later, but, you know.

"Kisses first," he said, reaching to catch her lips with his to give her those kisses she wanted since he did as well.

Kate appreciated that kind of a lot. "Mm." It was just light and diner-appropriate and everything, but she'd missed him, and needed something sweet like this.

Bod smiled into that kiss, keeping it light and diner appropriate of course. When he pulled back, he rubbed his nose against hers and smiled again.

"I love you. Hullo," he murmured.

"Hullo," she replied, with a lingering little smile. "Love you too. How are you?"

"Quite well," he answered with a matching smile. "And you? How are you?"

"Oh, you know," she said, wryly, lightly, "hanging in there."

Easy to be al idle about it when he was right there and smiling.

"That's good to hear," he replied, nodding. "Can I get you anything to eat? Drink? Something else?"

"I might like a drink," Kate said with just the barest of smirks. "And maybe a promise that you'll spend the night with me."

"I can get you both of those very easily," Bod replied, nodding. "First, what sort of drink would you like? And second, I'll spend every night with you, of course."

"Just a Coke is fine," she replied with a little chuckle. "Just one night is, too. For right now."

"Of course," Bod said, giving her one last little kiss before stepping back to get her Coke. "Did you want to stay on island tonight or will we be going back to Kansas?"

"I don't feel like doing the dance of 'Bod just randomly decided to take a plane to Kansas' with the family, so on the island is fine," Kate replied, with a slight eyeroll. "Or we could go to the mainland. I'm not picky. Just has to have a bed, privacy, and you."

"We could definitely go to the mainland," Bod decided, nodding. "There are hotels there we could rent and there's food and privacy and beds, I'm sure."

He slid the Coke in front of her and added a straw. "It sounds like an excellent use of a Friday night."

"Doesn't it just?" Kate said with wry smile as she picked up the drink and took a sip. "Plus, I've had a long week. I deserve it. We should look for someplace sorta fancy but still cheap."

"I'm sorry to hear that your week's been long," he said, giving into his need to touch her by reaching to slide his fingers through her hair. "We can find the cheapest yet fanciest hotel out there. Is there anything I can do to help right now?"

"Eh," she replied, with a shrug that seemed kind of careful, because she didn't want him to stop touching her. "Right now I'm good. There's... some stuff we'll probably need to talk about, though."

"We can talk, of course," Bod said, fingers still brushing her cheek and temple lightly. "Is it -- is it about you and I?"

He just wanted to prepare himself if it was.

I shall get all pings after work!
