Friday Evening: Outback Steakhouse.

There had been a bet. A bet that Matt had won and was now about to reap the rewards for.

So the grin on his face might be because he was going over the menu to see what his options were or because of his dinner partner. Most likely the latter.

"So what's the most expensive thing on this menu?" Matt asked as his hands went over the braille menu. "Because I think I'll need two."

[Matt is here for one though post is open for anyone needing a Bloomin' Onion.]

"I think it's in the appetizer section," Stacey teased. Not that this wasn't going on the credit card her parents paid, but.

She'd taken a lot of time to look good tonight, even if she thought that probably wasn't totally necessary. She was wearing a blue dress with a short skirt that flared out at the hips, and had curled her hair so it looked fluffy and bouncy.

"Don't suppose I could talk you into water and a salad..."

Which would likely be what she got. She had diabetes, you see.

"And how would you be convinced?" Stacey wondered.

"Good. Because I didn't exactly bring Pop Tarts with me," she smiled.

Couldn't eat them, blah blah blah.

"They probably don't put it on the regular menu. You might have to ask for it by name," she said, mock seriously.

"I'd be disappointed if you didn't," she told him.

Stacey might have giggled at him actually doing that, because Stacey was not as mature as she liked to think she was.

"Same for me," she said, handing off her menu. "But make sure my iced tea is unsweetened."

"It looked like she might have wanted to hit you with a menu," she giggled quietly.

"Done," Stacey laughed. "Or else write a suggestion that they start carrying Pop Tarts."

You're welcome, everyone who could have sugar.

"It's neutral ground. My parents are divorced, and my dad's in New York and my mom's in Connecticut, and I got tired of being the go-between," she explained, frowning a little. "What about you, what are you doing out here?"

"Sounds like. Do you like it here so far?" she asked.

"The distractions are definitely a plus," she agreed. Fandom was sort of her heaven there. "And it's nice not to have anyone checking in on you constantly."

Like Stacey had reasonable supervision to begin with.

"So you weren't always... blind?"

Yes, she had to work up to saying it out loud. Everyone was probably lucky he wasn't a lesson for something or other by now, really.
