Most of the apricots had been removed by the time Thursday's rehearsal came around, but there was still a bowl piled high with the fruit alongside the usual pitchers of lemon water. … And a couple of boxes backstage if anyone wanted to take more.

"So, today we're going to work on Hoyt's introduction to start with," Troy explained, "which is the song Sweet Transvestite, and then work our way up through to Petey's big number, Sword of Damocles. This includes the part where Lad and Garnet are stripped down to their underwear -- but I think we'll hold off on that until we get a little further into rehearsals."

Yes. Stripped to their underwear. Troy really hoped that the cast knew what kind of show it was by now, but if they didn't...

"I reserve the right," Jono intoned, "to mock anybody who is surprised by that revelation by this point in rehearsals."

Because that was Jonothon's idea of useful input.

Troy laughed. "Yeah, what he said," he agreed. "So, before we get started, any questions?"

And there was a plate of muffins making its way onto the table as well.

And, yes, Vincent was perfectly happy to take a box of apricots. They made excellent compliments to all sorts of dishes.

Apricots seemed like a nice, healthy snack, even if Quinn was a bit surprised by how very many there were. She took a few to much as she waited for her cue.

There were some foods that, more than others, tended to vaporize Gabrielle's sense of moderation. Apricots happened to be one of them. (Look, do you know how hard it was to get fresh apricots most of the places she tended to be back home? Don't answer that.)

Yum.

Look, someone had to ask. After Hercules had arrived and settled in, he finally said "Why are there so many apricots?"

Natalie didn't mind apricots. Not her favourite, but she could do with a snack while she wasn't actively rehearsing.

Hanna took some apricots. She was okay with those. At least they were a healthy snacking option.

And then there's a trip up to the lab to see what's on the slab -- or, more accurately, in the big honking fishtank -- and then a nine-tenths naked muscleman runs around while singing about giant swords.

In our case, less nine-tenths naked and more in a suit of armor over which there will eventually be a pair of tiny gold shorts.

Hercules was going to start off with gusto. He started tapping his foot to get the rhythm and then just launched into his song with a hearty bass voice that was not quite the original range of the part.

I'm not much of a man by the light of day," Hercules barely got through that without laughing. His face did, however, twitch into a smirk.

From Panssexual, Pennsylvania." Hercules enjoyed the strutting and the posing. But he possibly might need some practice if he was going to have to wear heels...

"Let me show you around
Maybe play you a sound.

We could take in an old Steve Reeves movie."

Yeah, this was going to go well.

Guy sighed, somewhere between singing and speaking his part.

"I'm glad we caught you at home,
Could we use your phone?
We're both in a bit of a hurry."

Cindy tried not to smirk as she sang her line.

"Right."

Garnet's role was very trying, yes.

Where, once they tag in, they are available for comments, queries, threats, bribes, or abuse.

Troy had an apricot of his own and was munching on it between sips of his coffee.

Sweet, life-giving coffee.

Jono was very much a coffee-before-apricots sort, today. But that didn't stop him from keeping a few of them on hand.

What? They were practically bite-sized. The pits were problematic, but all-in-all, the fruit itself? Not terribly filling.

... Oh, and he was there if anyone was having difficulty with the music, too. Of course.

For the performance of crew-like duties! Or just to hang about while people are on stage.

Billy was here with his trusty binder, which he was studying intently at the moment to hide his smirking and blushing at the "stripping down" part of Troy's talk. By the time they actually got around to the stripping during rehearsals, he'd be--okay, he'd still probably be turning red, but he was determined to be able to look at everyone while they were nearly naked. It'd be really hard to do his job otherwise.

Freddie went and settled in back in the sound tech area, getting used to the set-up and making sure he'd be able to handle it all.

He was pretty confident in his abilities to perform admirably.

I have slow-cooker pork tenderloin with root vegetables and mushroom gravy, and you don't. :D

Excuse me while I crack up at Herc having to sing about Steve Reeves.

Cranberry-glazed porkchops and herbed havarti-smothered baked potatoes.
