Dite's Decadent Delights, Tuesday Afternoon
Monday had been devoted to dragging herself to class and then back to her room to sleep, so it wasn't until Tuesday that Karla managed to get to the store and open it back up. She patted the as-yet-unnamed-rooster (dammit! Where were those votes?!) and stepped inside, making sure that everything appeared to be in roughly the same shape as when she'd left.
For the most part, the store was exactly as she remembered it--all except for the big stack of letters on the counter next to Little Strife, the cash register. That was odd. They got random deliveries all the time, but rarely ever mail.
Confusion turned to excitement when she opened the first and saw they were from 'Dite! 'Dite who was apparently on some kind of time-adventure, keeping Ares from wrecking history. And that excitement turned back to confusion after she'd finished reading the letters and sat puzzling over the little drawings on the envelope; the drawings next to dried blood and the feeling of magic. The blood was far too old to try to get anything from and 'Dite's magic didn't work like her Craft, so she was left to puzzle over the funny little pictures instead.
'Dite's was open, but with a decidedly studious bent.

Talk to Karla

Karla smiled at that. She'd missed 'Dite a lot, especially the goddess's shrewd advice...and warm hugs.
"Ready to meet the goddess of love and beauty herself?"

And then had been staggered by her resemblance to Morton's mother. But she wasn't going to go into that.

Though, really, considering the stories, Kenzi's question wasn't too far off base.
"She's kind of...mellowed, I guess. And grown up. She's a lot more interested in helping folks, rather than messing around with them. And when she finds out you have a boyfriend, be prepared for a bunch of questions and helpful advice. Because she's got a few thousand years of experience at this kind of stuff."
Re: Talk to Karla
"So's she cool with me working here when we've never even met?"
Re: Talk to Karla
In a minute or two, Karl would realize she should specify she meant a cat, not the teacher.

And probably no snuggling their teacher. That could get weird.
"He gets into enough mischief without it," she added.

[*snickers as you finally leave way after you said you would. :> *]
Re: Talk to Karla
...Karla was mostly making that up.

They had to be, in order to find so many synonyms for 'cock'!
"Speaking of reading..." Karla slid the envelope over for Kenzi to look at more closely. "I don't suppose you know what these little pictures are, do you?"

She sighed and shook her head. "There should be books on these hieroglyphs at the library, right?"
