Besides the fact that it was a new month, Bod hadn't done much differently. He'd spent all of break with Kate and was still adjusting to being back and not getting a chance to sleep with her whenever he wanted. She had him completely wrapped around her finger and he kind of liked it that way.

For now, he was busying himself with wiping down counters and getting everything set to open so the diner would be running smoothly at the appointed time. After his shift, he thought maybe he'd go to the mainland and get a book. It'd been awhile since he'd done that.

Bod's around, if needed!

The last couple of months had been insanely busy; as a result, it had been a while since he'd spoken to Bod. But Ender was intent on fixing that now, swinging by the restaurant shortly before his visit to Ben to pick up some lunch.

"Bod?" he called.

Bod appeared from the kitchen, dish rag in hand. He gave Ender a smile when he saw the other boy and said, "Hullo there, Ender. It's been quite a while. How are you?"

"I'm doing fine enough," Ender said, a smile on his face. "How about you? I didn't see you around Rio."

"Unfortunately, I wasn't there," Bod said, giving his shoulder a shrug. "I don't get to see Kate much so I took the opportunity to visit her and see her baby niece as well. I had a very nice time even if it wasn't in Brazil. Did you enjoy yourself there?"

"A little too crowded for my tastes," Ender admitted. "But I survived it well enough, so I came out all right." He paused, nodded at the menu board. "Mind getting me some of that chicken to go?" he added.

"Of course," Bod said, scribbling the order down on a sheet of paper before sliding it back to the kitchen staff. "Have things been good otherwise?"

"Barring one dubious mission back to Ben's world, they've been positively quiet," Ender replied, leaning lightly on the counter. "Fandom's been throwing some whimsy our way, but it mostly seems to have skipped me."

"Ah, does that mean you didn't get the honor of turning female?" Bod asked, shaking his head at that one. "That isn't my favorite Fandom trick."

"No, I... wasn't able to escape that," Ender said, looking almost sheepish for a few seconds. "That's still a little awkward."

Especially when you woke up with your boyfriend. Whoops.

"I understand the awkwardness," Bod said, nodding. "Kate has an innate sense for these things and called me that day. And while I know I was still me, I dislike being in a different body."

"I don't mind the different body in and of itself," Ender admitted, "But it poses a few challenges..."

"It does," Bod said, shaking his head. "I was glad for normalcy to return. That's been my only real bit of Fandom interference lately."

"No bodyswaps or any other pains in the ass?" Ender checked. "I'd call us lucky, but according to superstition, that might call misfortune onto our heads."

"Yes, let's not do anything that might bring the island's wrath down," Bod agreed with a little laugh. "Perhaps I'm just being spared since graduation is looming closer. A so called break for a senior."

"That should rule me out, too," Ender pointed out. "So if I manage to turn into a purple ape of some description next week, be warned."

Use the diner without Bod's help!
