Trooper Station- Friday

When Audrey came in today, she found one of the troopers doing laps around the station. Aww, obviously Jake's spring break training had worked on someone.

Of course when he finally came back inside, the others decided to try and elect her to have the talk with him about maybe showering before he came back to work. Obviously someone had to do it, but no one wanted it to be them. She had no idea how this was her work life some days.

[Idk. Open la la la.]

If Joan noticed any odor when she walked into the trooper station, she was too polite to mention it, at least. She was on one of her more unusual requests, today (somehow ordering blood had become normal, but walking into the police station was strange.)

"Good afternoon," she said politely to the woman she encountered. "Who would I speak to about setting up a ride-along?" Pause. "...or a walk-along. I suppose we don't really have cars here."

"Perfect. I work for Mr. Northman, at the Devil's Nest. He figured he's been here long enough that he should get to know the local law enforcement," she explained with a smile. "Granted, he's still sending me on the...rickshaw-along, rather than going himself, but I'll be taking notes for him." She shrugged, adding, "Gets me out of the office, at least."

"Then I don't have to plan to wear my comfy shoes," Joan said with a bright smile. "How do you keep yourselves entertained, though? Aside from the odd weekend, that is."

"Huh." Running laps had honestly never occurred to Joan as a means to keep entertained during the day. Drinking, yes. Exercising...not so much. At least, not that way. "Well, if you ever want to trade paperwork notes, let me know. I'm kind of an expert," she confided. "Comes with the territory."

"I try not to brag, so let's go with 'office manager,'" Joan replied with a grin. "Try not to be too jealous of my exciting job."

"Just don't let it affect you personally," Joan said solemnly. "We can't all have the glamorous lives of paper cuts and getting coffee."

"Well, their coffee is phenomenal," Joan agreed. "Back home you'd need to be in very wealthy company indeed to find coffee that good. And probably somewhere with Italians. I had a friend once insist I tried a cappuccino, because it was new and very chic. Here, it seems like you can put any flavor you like into it, as well. It's amazing."

Time travel. It made the little things count.

"Just Manhattan," Joan replied easily. "...circa 1961. I haven't quite adjusted fully to the time change, still, I suppose."

"About...four months and counting," Joan said, checking her watch before holding out her hand. "Joan, by the way."
