Yes, it's ladies' night.

Oh, what a night.

It was also, apparently, a night for Kool and the Gang. Eric was thrilled, truly.

But it was half-price drinks for the ladies, so Tiny was wearing his best black wife-beater in the hopes of getting lucky. Eric was thrilled about that, too.

Jaina wasn't going to be sleeping over at the community center or anything, so after leaving there she decided she could stop in at the club to say hi.

Though when she got there and found Eric, it was less "hi" and more of a vague gesture in the air as if to ask, "What is with this music?"

Eric mouthed back "no fucking idea", then shrugged a shoulder and smiled.

Jaina grinned. "Hi." Might as well get to that part. "I didn't think I'd be in town. Surprise."

"A good surprise," Eric said, grinning back. "Please tell me you don't want to dance to this."

Hell no. "Would you dance with me if I did?" She would so not make him.

"Hell no," Eric declared.

"You are absolutely no fun," she totally, totally lied.

"I get that a lot," Eric said, laughing.

"Do you refuse to dance to horrible music with a lot of girls?" she asked, and then thought about Fangtasia. "Actually, you might."

Eric's smile turned slightly lopsided. "Sorry."

"Only say sorry if you're dancing with them and turning me down," she teased. "How are you doing?"

"Okay," Eric said. "I've beaten Pam on Angry Birds again."

Pause.

"And doing important sheriff things, too."

[solo_sword]

"Important sheriff things that rank below Angry Birds?" She was still rebuilding her score after she lost her game that time. It might top her list of news if she beat a score, too.

"Well, the important sheriff things were more paperwork intensive," Eric admitted.

"Vampires have paperwork?" She so sympathized.

"I think we're probably the oldest bureaucracy on this planet," Eric griped.

"I'm so sorry," she said sincerely. "I have never had a problem doing any of my jobs but when things like reports and paperwork come in..." And he had a thousand years of it.

Eric made a face. "Half the reason why I've never wanted to be a king."

"What's the other half?" she wondered.

"I don't really like staying in one place," Eric replied.

"They probably wouldn't be very happy with you being here if you were king somewhere else, huh?" she realized.

"Not really," Eric understated.

[solo_sword]

"I like you as a sheriff," she decided. "Makes visiting so much easier."

"I wouldn't want to run Louisiana anyway," Eric declared. "Unless Bill was going to run it instead."

Because what the fuck was that, really.

"Why would Bill run it?" Mostly what she remembered hearing about Bill was "total dick."

"In Jessica's world, where apparently Sookie slept with Bill, Bill was the king of Louisiana and someone must be on drugs, it has happened," Eric grumbled.

"Oh, the fun of alternate realities," she sighed. Not that she knew anything about those. "But it hasn't happened in yours?"

"No," Eric said vehemently.

"Yeah, I probably would have heard about that by now if it had," she realized.

"You would have heard Pam shrieking clear to another galaxy," Eric agreed.

"Followed by notice that you'd moved to another state?" she guessed.

"Mississippi would look really good," Eric admitted, "Especially now that Russell's gone."

[solo_sword]

"What, you wouldn't want to work under a crazy guy?" Who killed his family but she'd be tactful and not mention that.

"I try to avoid it when I can," Eric replied.

"It's really a good rule to live by," she decided.
