Magic Box, Thursday, 3/15
Yeah, you know what was helpful in opening a store? Having your key. Tara seriously about took her room apart before deciding to just magic the lock open. And then she had to find a lock-magicing spell that didn't involve possibly blowing up the door, which also took some time.
But that was past, and now she was in the store, and ...
Where the hell was the codex of magical supplies she had wanted to use to help track down stuff for Kennedy?
[OOC: Open post, frustrated witch!]

She had stopped on her way in to pick up coffee, and headed for the counter to put that down before pocketing her phone.
"Hey."

Finally, she gave up and turned to Kennedy. "Hi. Sorry for the" -- guilty glace to bookshelves -- "but, uh, the book I wanted for you has gone on vacation."

It was still weird to talk to Kennedy, between the "hey, you're dead in three years" factor and the ex factor. having a project to focus on seemed like it might make things easier.

"I can actually send you a whole list of stuff we're looking for, when I get it," she offered. "Books-wise, anyway. I can't pronounce most of those titles. Don't ask me to spell 'em. For the other stuff..."
She picked up one of the mochas, held the other out for Tara.
"Let's just say someone's gotta rebuild their entire collection of spellbooks and supplies from scratch. Where would you start?"

See Tara trying not to prod too much.

"It's great that you're helping," she added. "I know magic hasn't always, um, been your thing."

Not exactly the same, no. But very close, and with the same bright aura from what Tara could remember.

She took another sip of mocha, looking thoughtful. "It is huge. And I love it."

She went over to the books, tried to find a couple basic spellbooks for the package. "Any tradition your friend follows?" she wondered. "Or just ... basic magic stuff?"

She stuck her hands in her pockets and came over to peer at the shelves, hoping to spot some title that might ring a bell.
"Just general stuff, I think. She's not super traditional, at least I don't think so. Compared to you, anyway..."
She trailed off, feeling like that had sounded kind of awful.

She sighed at the books. "I swear, we had more last week."

"It's not just me then? Because I'm totally sure I brought more stuff with me, but my favorite boots are missing and they're not at home," she complained. "And-- okay, I know I brought a stake with me, but..."
She patted her back pocket. "Apparently not?"
no subject
"Okay ... almost never. But still. It's weird and no fun, and do you just carry a stake all the time now?"
And now Tara was even more glad Kennedy's portal hadn't come through before the weekend.

"Pretty much all the time, yeah," Kennedy admitted.
"...wait, you lost your keys? 'cause this is starting to sound like a Fandom thing. Or just a really annoying trend."

Said the girl who'd just kick the door down.
"But this is me, not surprised you found the right spell," she added with a grin. "God, Fandom, I missed your kind of crazy."
