The Park [Monday afternoon]
It wasn't often that Dany ventured off of the school grounds without her silver, but today she was on a mission, in a way. With her in the park today were the three dragons, because as loathe as she was to admit it, they were growing far too large for the dorms. They didn't all three fit into their basket anymore, and had begun to climb up onto the bed with her to sleep, instead.
Or, more alarmingly, fly up there.
They weren't able to fly very far, or fast, or high, yet, no. But today, she was going to observe them outdoors, and see how much progress they could make on their own. She knew that eventually they'd have to move to the stables, but she was foolishly dreading the day, all the same.
So, armed with an iced coffee from the Perk (Loki's influence -- she had wanted more smoothies when they returned to the island from Brazil, and instead discovered frappuccinos) and dressed in cool, loose silks, Dany took turns with each of her dragons on the edge of the park, trying to coax them into flight. "Very good, Drogon! Oh, Viserion, don't snap at your brother. Flutter your wings, my love! Up to me!"
It was a bit like watching a very unsure mother teach children how to walk. Except the children were lizards who could breathe fire, and all.
[open open open, entertain me. Mild SP after 4:30 EDT, but it should be a sloooow night at work, yes.]

"Hello, Daenerys," she said. "Your dragons have grown so much."

"How much bigger will they become?" she asked curiously.

She watched the dragons for a moment, then said, "Do you think if there were something in the air to attract their attention, it might help them to fly? Or are they staying close to the ground for now?"

She closed her eyes again, calling forth her Soul-Self. The black shadow raven form rose from her shoulders and up into the air above them, not terribly high, just about five feet above their heads.

But it was Drogon whose little wings flapped the hardest, and he fluttered up off the ground, flicking his tongue out at Raven's Soul-Self. He didn't get all the way up to it, but as he hovered nearly in front of Dany's face, she couldn't help but smile.
It was welcome, considering she'd watched the display with some trepidation. She still didn't trust magic, even after her time here. "How did you do that?" she asked, looking to Raven curiously.

She could sense a little apprehension from Dany, so she didn't mention she was a demon, for the moment at least.

"... they can fly," she gawked, then pinkened. "Er. You ... probably knew that. Hi."

She didn't think she had it quite right, but it was better than hey, you.

She watched the dragons for a moment longer. "I think they'd make your arms tired to carry."

And then the rest of what Tara had said registered, and she slanted a look at the other girl. "Magic?"

She was trying to move past her biases and fears, truly. And it was difficult to reconcile Tara with the woman who'd ultimately taken everything from her last year.

That didn't seem like the right word, but she couldn't think of a better one.
"Is there ... not magic where you're from?"

Most of the time, anyhow.

"Daenerys, hello," she greeted, slightly out of breath. Blind Seer was looking rather smug about having won the race once again- an easy feat, when one had four legs instead of merely two. Hello, little ones, she added to the dragons. Not as little as they'd been the last time she'd seen them, though.

"Have you been racing?" Dany asked with some amusement.

So strong and clever, she praised Drogon, seeing that attempt at flight. Can you do the same as your brother? she asked of the other two.

In a manner of speaking.
