The Park [Monday afternoon]

It wasn't often that Dany ventured off of the school grounds without her silver, but today she was on a mission, in a way. With her in the park today were the three dragons, because as loathe as she was to admit it, they were growing far too large for the dorms. They didn't all three fit into their basket anymore, and had begun to climb up onto the bed with her to sleep, instead.

Or, more alarmingly, fly up there.

They weren't able to fly very far, or fast, or high, yet, no. But today, she was going to observe them outdoors, and see how much progress they could make on their own. She knew that eventually they'd have to move to the stables, but she was foolishly dreading the day, all the same.

So, armed with an iced coffee from the Perk (Loki's influence -- she had wanted more smoothies when they returned to the island from Brazil, and instead discovered frappuccinos) and dressed in cool, loose silks, Dany took turns with each of her dragons on the edge of the park, trying to coax them into flight. "Very good, Drogon! Oh, Viserion, don't snap at your brother. Flutter your wings, my love! Up to me!"

It was a bit like watching a very unsure mother teach children how to walk. Except the children were lizards who could breathe fire, and all.

[open open open, entertain me. Mild SP after 4:30 EDT, but it should be a sloooow night at work, yes.]

Raven had gone out for a walk herself in an attempt to clear her thoughts. As she passed through the park, she spotted Dany and her dragons and had to pause and watch, fascinated.

"Hello, Daenerys," she said. "Your dragons have grown so much."
trigons_child: (Curious)

[personal profile] trigons_child 2012-03-19 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is," Raven murmured in agreement, pushing down her own anxieties about the passage of time before they could reach her face.

"How much bigger will they become?" she asked curiously.

"Larger than the ones I have seen before then," Raven said, closing her eyes for just a brief moment as she soaked in the pride she was sensing from Dany.

She watched the dragons for a moment, then said, "Do you think if there were something in the air to attract their attention, it might help them to fly? Or are they staying close to the ground for now?"

"Curiosity can be a powerful motivator," Raven said with a smile. "We shall see if this attracts their attention."

She closed her eyes again, calling forth her Soul-Self. The black shadow raven form rose from her shoulders and up into the air above them, not terribly high, just about five feet above their heads.

Raven let one wing flutter down to tease Rhaegal and ducked her head toward Drogon as her physical body gave Dany another smile. "That is my Soul-Self," she said. "I am able to manifested it away from my body. I see what it sees and feel what it feels."
trigons_child: (Staring)

Raven shook her head. "Not a witch, though I have been called one," she said, drawing her Soul-Self back into her body. "I am an empath, and a healer. I am able to take pain from others, and I do so freely and gladly."

She could sense a little apprehension from Dany, so she didn't mention she was a demon, for the moment at least.

"It is part of what I am, though I suppose it would not be incorrect to call it magic," Raven said. "And I do so because it is my greatest joy to help others. If my touch can relieve another's suffering, it is more than worth it."

Tara was on her way through the park, bag of groceries in one hand. she craned her neck backwards when she spotted the dragons.

"... they can fly," she gawked, then pinkened. "Er. You ... probably knew that. Hi."

[personal profile] life_inshadow 2012-03-19 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"You think you're used to this island, then boom, tiny dragons," Tara sighed, then considered it again. "Dragon-lets? Dragonlings? They're beautiful."

[personal profile] life_inshadow 2012-03-19 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't think so," Tara quickly agreed. "Sorry if I'm bothering you, it's just hard not to say anything when you see dragonlings. I know Petra, though. And you're" -- she hesitated -- "Dah-neer-us?"

She didn't think she had it quite right, but it was better than hey, you.

"Sometimes in stories?" Tara said. "I mean, you'll hear about really strong magic summoning them from other dimensions, but it's ... not the most reliable sources. They aren't just, y'know, in parks on spring days."

She watched the dragons for a moment longer. "I think they'd make your arms tired to carry."
life_inshadow: ([neu] this is disconcerting)

[personal profile] life_inshadow 2012-03-19 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Awww, they're like ... toddler dragons," Tara noted, then nodded earnestly at the question. "Um, yeah, I'm ... a witch? But -- not the kind who summons dragons, ever."
life_inshadow: ([neu] mildly interested)

Tara could tell from the neutral tone that she'd likely hit a nerve, and her reply, when it came, was careful. "Charms," she said. "Telekinesis, some locating spells. Nothing too, uh ... adventurous?"

That didn't seem like the right word, but she couldn't think of a better one.

"Is there ... not magic where you're from?"

life_inshadow: ([neu] this is what i think)

[personal profile] life_inshadow 2012-03-19 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"More common here than just about everywhere," Tara nodded in agreement, deciding not to ask for details. "I'm ... sorry you went through that. Some people just shouldn't have magic. But most of the witches here are pretty careful."

Most of the time, anyhow.

"It's pretty much the first spell most people at home learn. I try not to overuse it," Tara said, a shy smile flickering across her face. "But ... sometimes it's just the easiest way to get your socks into the hamper."

Although Firekeeper and Blind Seer spent a lot of time outdoors, it was generally in the vicinity of the preserve rather than the park. Still, sometimes one just felt like running, and an open space like the park was a good place for that.

"Daenerys, hello," she greeted, slightly out of breath. Blind Seer was looking rather smug about having won the race once again- an easy feat, when one had four legs instead of merely two. Hello, little ones, she added to the dragons. Not as little as they'd been the last time she'd seen them, though.

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes," Firekeeper confirmed, aiming a scowl and a playful shove at Blind Seer's shoulder before turning her attention to the dragons. "He win, as always. But only because he have twice as many feet to run with."

So strong and clever, she praised Drogon, seeing that attempt at flight. Can you do the same as your brother? she asked of the other two.

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2012-03-19 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Life is rarely so," Firekeeper said easily. And with a smirk, scrambled up into the branches of a nearby tree. Dangling upside down, the smirk grew to a grin. "Hands is good for some things, I find." Jumping down, she offered a pleased little clap to the dragons for their efforts. "As is wings."

Loki whistled appreciatively, watching the dragons. A magpie cawed from its spot on his shoulder, almost as though in agreement. "Good afternoon, dear Daenerys!"

"His name is Ikol." Because Loki thought himself clever. "He is my pet."

In a manner of speaking.
