The Perk- Sunday late afternoon

Audrey liked these kinds of days. They were perfect for heading out to the Perk, grabbing a hot cup of coffee and a table by the window so you could look out at the weather, and read a paper when the weather wasn't that interesting.

And seriously, reading the news from the Washington Post and getting a dose of reality was kind of refreshing every now and then. Imagine living somewhere that crimes happened, and not just on days when everyone went insane. ...It should not be weird to do that.

Scott couldn't always stay inside the house on non-class days, as much as he might want to. Sometimes he needed to get real fresh air and better coffee than he normally had.

After waiting for his... honestly, maybe overly precise order, he spotted someone else in the coffee shop and decided to try being social. "Any good news in there?"

"I've heard that rumor. I'm not completely sure I buy it, though," Scott joked.

"I guess I'll just have to take you at your word that it's real," Scott said. "People might turn into animals around here, but I've never known them to lie about newspapers."

t had never come up, really.

"Oh, no. Well, kind of. I have a medical condition," Scott said. It was called 'he shoots punch energy from his eyes.' "So I have to wear these all the time."

"There's almost always a silver lining if you look for one," Scott agreed. "I'm Scott, by the way. I probably should have mentioned that before my medical history."

The other silver lining? Punch energy. From his eyes.

"I'm a teacher. Probably not the most interesting answer ever since that's what half the adults here do," Scott said.
