the park ; sunday afternoon
Sam and Ada had been up for awhile. Sam hadn't slept and while Ada wasn't a complete insomniac like he was, she did wake up early which meant he'd been pretty much caring for her since yesterday. Natalie had begged off last night and while Sam had wanted to ask why, he'd held his tongue and let her go. He hadn't seen her since.
He'd left a message though, telling her where he and Ada would be. The park was quiet and cool. Ada had room to run around (though she was mostly sticking close to Sam and hanging onto his legs while he walked). He hadn't asked her much about her abilities and hadn't even asked if she knew what a necromancer was but he could tell. One necromancer knew another and he could tell and it was ripping at him slowly.
But, he was pushing all that down so the kid could have someone to care for her and have fun with her. See, Sam was even making noises like some big giant robot who was crushing cities while Ada clung to his leg and laughed.
[Sam's here for mother and kid but the park's an open place for everyone!]

Eventually that aimless wandering brought her to the park. And a familiar, if somewhat younger, face.
"Hey, Sam," she greeted, wandering over. And wondering if he'd be able to figure out who she was, yeah.
[ooc: YEAH I'M MODDING THAT THEY KEPT IN TOUCH AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. CAUSE I CAN.]

"Hey..."
He trailed off and tried to place the face. He really did try.
"Uh. Hey, you!"
Yeah, that was a great cover.
[OMG YOU MODDER I REBUKE YOU!]

He could bet Toby had a nice little heart attack at meeting his kid just like Sam had.

"In Fandom, or the park in particular?" Ellie asked Sam. "Because if you mean the second thing, then no. But the first? Yeah. He freaked a little."
...Definitely Toby's kid, yeah.

"My Daddy!" Ada said protectively.

"Yeah, he's all yours, kiddo," she told Ada. "I was just teasing him."

Sam looked up and said, "Her name's...a long story."

"Yaaaay, crush more things!"
Yeah, she wasn't particularly distraught.

Ada was pretty much having the time of her life. She laughed and clung harder.
"But 'member not to crush Montreal!"

"Too much raaain," she agreed. "And she finks it's boring. Bad for business."
Which Ada pronounced like 'busy-ness'.

Or at least she spent a lot of time there.

And he didn't get why Natalie wouldn't. But, he didn't understand the situation completely either.

Have fun deciphering that, Sam.

"What's Mommy do that takes her to New York so much?" Sam wondered, resuming his stomping and huge leaps to avoid both Montreal and Seattle again.

"To the tree and back. If its faster than last time, I'll get you a burger."
"How'll you know?"
"I'll know."
"But how?"
"Don't make me take back the burger."
This could go on for a while.
