the park ; sunday afternoon

Sam and Ada had been up for awhile. Sam hadn't slept and while Ada wasn't a complete insomniac like he was, she did wake up early which meant he'd been pretty much caring for her since yesterday. Natalie had begged off last night and while Sam had wanted to ask why, he'd held his tongue and let her go. He hadn't seen her since.

He'd left a message though, telling her where he and Ada would be. The park was quiet and cool. Ada had room to run around (though she was mostly sticking close to Sam and hanging onto his legs while he walked). He hadn't asked her much about her abilities and hadn't even asked if she knew what a necromancer was but he could tell. One necromancer knew another and he could tell and it was ripping at him slowly.

But, he was pushing all that down so the kid could have someone to care for her and have fun with her. See, Sam was even making noises like some big giant robot who was crushing cities while Ada clung to his leg and laughed.

[Sam's here for mother and kid but the park's an open place for everyone!]

Ellie had been to Fandom any number of times, but those times were not usually in the past. So she was walking around town without any particular destination in mind, comparing the stores and stuff to the island from the future she was more familiar with. It was interesting, seeing which businesses would stand the test of time and which... wouldn't, so much.

Eventually that aimless wandering brought her to the park. And a familiar, if somewhat younger, face.

"Hey, Sam," she greeted, wandering over. And wondering if he'd be able to figure out who she was, yeah.

[ooc: YEAH I'M MODDING THAT THEY KEPT IN TOUCH AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. CAUSE I CAN.]

"Smooth, very smooth," Ellie retorted. "Need a hint?" It could be worse, Sam. At least she wasn't trying to convince you that you were her father.

"I look like my dad," she paused, "well, like both my parents, really, but when Fandom makes my dad turn into a girl we literally look the same. It's kinda freaky knowing what I'll look like when I'm old."

Ellie wiggled her fingers in a wave at Ada. "I don't bite," she told her.

"In Fandom, or the park in particular?" Ellie asked Sam. "Because if you mean the second thing, then no. But the first? Yeah. He freaked a little."

...Definitely Toby's kid, yeah.

"Maybe you're my other parent," Ellie deadpanned. She didn't expect Sam to believe her, really, but she wanted to see what he'd say.

"I could've been trying to break it to you gently," Ellie replied, but then just laughed, because it was one thing to mess with adults (even if they weren't really adults at the time), but messing with little kids was just mean.

"Yeah, he's all yours, kiddo," she told Ada. "I was just teasing him."

Ada was happy with her daddy, she really was. She also didn't question Natalie's absence. She was pretty used to life being split into Daddy time and Mommy time.

"Yaaaay, crush more things!"

Yeah, she wasn't particularly distraught.

"Wheeeee!"

Ada was pretty much having the time of her life. She laughed and clung harder.

"But 'member not to crush Montreal!"

[identity profile] necrostardom.livejournal.com 2012-04-01 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Noooooo!" Ada crowed. Loudly. "Mommy doesn't like Seattle, but I do! Cuz Gramma's there, and everyone! I dun even care if it rains a lot!"

[identity profile] necrostardom.livejournal.com 2012-04-01 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ada giggled a lot when he stepped over Seattle. What, it was hilarious.

"Too much raaain," she agreed. "And she finks it's boring. Bad for business."

Which Ada pronounced like 'busy-ness'.

"She says it's home," Ada reported, while pointing at various collapsing imaginary buildings as they fell. "An' it's more quiet. But I think she liked New York bestest."

Or at least she spent a lot of time there.

[identity profile] necrostardom.livejournal.com 2012-04-01 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I do!" she confirmed. After trying to roar with him. Obviously. "But it's in the wrong 'verse. She doesn't like it as much. Too nonnymous."

Have fun deciphering that, Sam.

Julie had taken off with a parting remark about not getting paid enough, and left Kate with a four year old with more energy than humanly possible. Well, pure human, anyway. Kate was currently cursing her choice of future mate. Damned shifters.

"To the tree and back. If its faster than last time, I'll get you a burger."

"How'll you know?"

"I'll know."

"But how?"

"Don't make me take back the burger."

This could go on for a while.
