Cafe Fina, Monday evening

Lion-o took a few minutes to chat with the Fina staff before grabbing a table for himself and Momoko. "I feel bad that I haven't visited this place more often," he said. "But the cheese grater told me about this awesome new dessert. How would you like to start out by sampling some banana caramel cream? Or how about green tea cheesecake?"

"I totally love this place. We have some awesome cafes at home, but I always miss the 'Fina." Momoko waved at the staff cheerily as she sat. "Let's start with the cheese cake! Then if it's bad the banana caramel with taste even better!"

"So did you have any kids visiting you this weekend?"

"Good plan," agreed Lion-o.

"I didn't have any kids show up, but I can't say that I'm surprised," he confessed. "I haven't had any kids show up any of the previous times. And really, I'm not even sure if... you know, if it's possible for a Thunderan and a human to reproduce," he added, his face turning bright red.

Oh sure, remind her that there was THAT part of it. Now Momoko was blushing just as hard. "It could be with another Thunderan, you know!"

"But I'd have to find one first," said Lion-o, still blushing. "Either that, or I'd have to hope that Cheetara... Yeah, that might be a long shot. So yeah, I don't need to think about kids right now. I'm about to graduate. I should face that first."

"Yes! Graduation!" Yay subject change! Even if she did bring up the last subject herself. "So other than Mister Snarf, has anyone else said anything to you about it?"

Momoko sat back as the plates of cheesecake were set down.

Lion-o sighed. "Tygra has already sent me a list of agenda items that we need to cover at my first council meeting once I get back," he said. "WileyKat and WileyKit want to come for my graduation, but they're going to need someone else to come with them. It would be really nice to have them here. No one's visited me from home since I came to Fandom."

"Oh! I could totally watch them, if no one else can get away? I mean, I've never met them, but I'm totally willing to try!"

"Are you sure? Because they're big trouble. They like to pull pranks. They were never as well-behaved as me," said Lion-o. "They might set off smoke bombs during the graduation ceremony... Which, actually might come in handy if something weird happens. There's always something new every year."

"I'm totally willing to try! They're your family!" She hesitated a moment. "They're not as big as you, right? I may have to be Blossom, if they are."

"Oh, they're not as big as me, They're just a little bit older than I was when I first started school in Fandom," said Lion-o. "But they're very tricky. What they lack in size, they make up for in their skills at fooling people."

Momoko rolled her eyes. "I can totally handle them, then. Just let me know! I can meet them at the portal or make my portal stop there and pick them up! It will be fun!"

Poor Momoko had NO idea what she was volunteering for, did she?.

She grinned, slightly wistful. "Ah ah. I can't believe you're graduating!"

Lion-o couldn't help smirking. He had a feeling that the Thunderkittens would really put Momoko to the test, but he was confident that she could handle them. And if she couldn't, they couldn't get into too much trouble over a weekend.

"They'll be thrilled. There's still a chance that Cheetara or Tygra might be able to come with them, but I'll let you know what they decide," said Lion-o. "And it is really weird to think that I'll be graduating. It's still hard sometimes to believe that I made it to senior year! It feels like a whole lifetime ago."

Momoko chuckled. "It was, technically; you went through a whole lifetime in a summer, remember?"

Hmmm. "Is that why you're worried about after? Because you feel like you lost time?"

"Sort of," admitted Lion-o. "When I first came back, I still felt like a little kid even though I had physically aged. Now I feel like I've caught up, but I'm not sure the rest of the Thundercats will see me as an adult."

"Well, the probably won't? I mean, honestly, family always thinks you're still a kid, no matter how old you are."

"Which makes it tougher when they're not totally family and I'm supposed to be their leader," said Lion-o. "The whole leading part is what worries me. How do I start? What do I do first? What if they don't accept me as their leader when I return?"

Leading. TOTALLY something Momoko knew about!

She grinned and leaned back a bit. "Well, first, you're going to have to decide what kind of leader do you want to be. I mean, they've been on their own for all this time, do you think it would be good to go back and be a dictator?"

"Of course not! I have no idea what they even do. How would I even start to give orders when I'm not sure what I would order them to do?" asked Lion-o.

Good! Momoko would totally have wondered if it was really her Lion-o if he'd answered yes.

"Totally right answer! So learn what everyone does, then you can see what you need to be to fit in!"

"That doesn't seem very hard," said Lion-o, giving it some thought. "And I guess I can just start out by watching what Tygra does, since Jaga left him in command of the Thundercat council."

~~Because he's the older brother?~~

"See! Apprentice! It's a totally respectable! It's what I'm doing! They'll teach you and you can take over bit by bit!"

"Bit by bit? I guess that can't be too bad," said Lion-o. "How is your apprenticeship going? I'd kind of like to know what to expect."

Hmmm. "Well, technically it's going well? I mean, I'm learning everything, and they let me work a festival all by myself. And they haven't given me a new supervisor in my section so I'm working that by myself?" She sighed, dropping her chin to her hand.

"You don't seem all that happy about it," Lion-o noted. "You were a lot more enthusiastic when we were talking about me doing an apprenticeship."

"You're at the start, and you've totally always talked about going home and being the leader. So it's exciting that you can finally do that!"

But.

"But I'm not really happy." Momoko finally admitted aloud. And then she felt horribly guilty about it. "I don't know, it's just... I'm working, and in a few months I graduate to do it all the time, and if I'm not happy now, will that change?"

"It may not change," said Lion-o. "So you need to figure out what's making you so unhappy. You owe it to yourself. If you stick with a job that makes you unhappy, you'll burn yourself out."

"But I don't know what else to do. And everyone keeps saying I'll make a good officer. Even my captain, when he's not mad at me."

She sighed. "And it is easy, most of it. And some is kind of fun. But all together..."

"I wish I had an easy answer for you, but I don't," said Lion-o. "Still, I think you may need to take some time off from training and decide if this is really what you want to do. I don't want to see you unhappy over your job."

Momoko chuckled, warmed by his caring tone. "I don't think my parents would appreciate it if I left school just because I was sad. I should at least graduate."

"Well, I'm sure your parents wouldn't want you to continue being sad," said Lion-o. "You know, maybe after dealing with all the stuff that's invaded Fandom, the stuff they have you doing just isn't interesting enough."

"Hmmm. I totally didn't think of that. Maybe?" That made sense! "But if that's the problem, I totally don't know how to fix it. I don't really want my world to get invaded or to have worse monsters or criminals show up."

"There may not be an easy fix, but just being aware of the problem is a start," said Lion-o. "You know, when I found extra time on my hands, I walked into the diner and ended up with a second job. I'm not saying that you need to get another job, but maybe you need to find something more challenging on the side."

"Another job." Momoko thought a moment. "I do feel totally happy when I'm off somewhere I can help people as Blossom. I don't know why helping people as a police officer doesn't give me the same feeling."

"That's a good place to start," said Lion-o, grinning. "Who knows? I might need Blossom to come help me deal with candy fruit thieves at harvest time."

Poor Lion-o. Candy fruit thieves would probably be the least of his worries once he got to Third Earth.

But Blossom would still be totally willing to come help!

"If you do need me, you'd totally better call! And not just for thieves. Even if it's just to talk, like now. Promise me!"
