Magic Box, Thursday, 4/19

Tara thought about simply not opening the shop today, but a step outside her dorm room convinced her otherwise. The lizards, bunnies, and blue ... whatever-they-weres seemed to be swarming fast, and the magic shop might be a key place for fighters to find supplies.

Unlike the last time she'd gotten this particular bright idea, Tara made sure she was well-armed enough to make it through the attackers without any special complications.

She arrived at the shop with only slight damage to her skirt, set up an illusion spell so most of the shelves in the shop would look empty, pulled a couple of gag gifts to the tables around the counter, and arranged a sign in the window:

The totally wholesome and normal shop full of magician's wares was open.

Pinkie was a human-disguised pony on a mission. She'd finished class today and headed straight back into town. She had things to do! Important things!

"Quick!" she cried to Tara as she came in. "Do you have a harmonica?!"

"I wish I did," Tara said regretfully. "I ... probably have some bells around somewhere? What do you need it for?"

"Drat!" Pinkie pouted. "I don't know how well bells would work with the accordion or the tuba. How about a tambourine?"

"We actually got a whole box of tambourines a few months ago," Tara said. "It was a mix-up, but I never shipped them back. Uh ... give me a minute?"

She disappeared into the back room and emerged with a box full of multicolored plastic tamborines. "Starting a band?" she asked, trying to figure out if she knew this woman. Something about her didn't shriek school board.

"Pfft. I wish." Pinkie brightened when she saw the tambourines. " That'll be perfect! Thanks!"

"No problem," Tara said, going over to ring the woman up.

"So, are you new to town?" she asked. "Usually there are fewer fuzzy blue things."

"Oh no, silly! I've been here for ages. I just have to look all silly this week for the visitors."

Tara smiled slightly. "Well, you look f-fine to me," she decided. "The whole thing is weird. I'm n-not sure what I would say if one of them came in here."

"The one who came to my class seemed very nice I'm assuming. I don't see why they don't like ponies."
