Atlas Gym, Saturday Afternoon

After getting a handwavey phone call from Jaina, Deadpool was at the gym. With swords. Pointy, pointy swords.

Because it had been waaaay too long since he'd had them out to play.

That might not have explained why there was a child playing on the treadmills as he cleaned the blades, though. But then, Jan had been raised around weapons, so this wasn't too strange for her. Plus? Treadmills.

It was like crack to a four year old.

[[Open gym, of course!]]

Jaina didn't know it yet, but in a few days she'd be doing this exact thing but without the treadmill, so this was probably better practice than she realized.

"Thanks for this," she said when she arrived.

A LOT OF THINGS. And Mandos were worse, okay.

Jaina paused. "I'm going to go ahead and put in a request that you don't actually stab me."

"No. Who are you friendly stabbing?" she asked.

"I'm really glad I don't know who that is," she decided. "So, any tips before we get started?"

Lightsabers were easy. Things that had actual weight to them...

Hey, he was throwing a sword to a Jedi, who could totally call it to her hand and look all cool about it.

Testing the weight and realizing that she'd have to use a two-handed grip until she got more used to it, Jaina got into a fighting stance and felt the need to repeat, "And no stabbing."

Well he didn't start off easy, did he?

Luckily her reaction time was kind of great, so she could lean back enough to bring her sword up into an awkward, if successful block. "As long as I stay out of the clinic," she decided.

She copied the grip, and shook her head. "How about we do this now and a different style next?"

Assuming she didn't lose limbs.

Well, lava is serious business.

It was about halfway through Jono's paperwork slog at the Boards, not long after lunch, that he decided that an hour or so spent in the gym wouldn't hurt anything. After all, if he let himself fall out of shape while he was on the island, Jubilee would kick his ass ten ways to Sunday. And she probably wouldn't even need her Wondra equipment to do it, either.

And so, he'd had a mind to use some of the weight-lifting equipment, figuring it would be best to steer clear of the live blades flying around the sparring area. The little girl running around gave him cause to pause and reconsider that decision, though. Best not to risk dropping a couple hundred pounds of weight on the little girl that might grow up to be mutantkind's one last hope, and all.

That seemed to narrow his options down considerably, though. Hm.

To be fair, she was much more used to chopping them off than losing them herself!

She still immediately moved to block, but used the motion to try her own swing at him, partly just to get the feel for it.

Jono turned a glance at Jan for a second, and then down at the floor. It was possible that there was a half-second spent in mild concern that his shoes might be on fire and he just wasn't aware of it after years of being on fire himself. Don't judge him.

"... So I'm currently burning to a crisp, is that what you're telling me?"

She frowned at the phrasing, but nodded with a "Right," and went for it again, harder this time. She had the strength, it was just about adjusting to the weapon.
